Listen to his coach. His coach has soo much faith in him becoming a passer, he said take the overs in over 139 rushing attempts. Boom!!!!!!Comment

there's the difference... you have to mike vick him... soft zone, with a spy... don't pressure him and force him to get out of the pocket... usually works out better for him than the opponent.. Dare him to make a read2013 MNF Executive Champion!Comment

it seems like there are alot of steelers fans here rooting for lamar jackson to succeed
I wonder whyComment

I was a fan in college and predicted he would do well in the NFL.
This doesn’t mean I want him to do well against us.Comment

having said that, he's probably more student of the game than Vick was at this stage in his career...2013 MNF Executive Champion!Comment

i was a fan in college and predicted he would be Vick 2.0... very inconsistent, not likely to ever become a consistent passer, but, mostly productive because of his legs...
having said that, he's probably more student of the game than Vick was at this stage in his career...
RG3, they always talked about his book smarts in school but he wasn’t well liked in the locker room.
Cam was predicted to flame out due to not reading defenses and not calling plays in the huddle.
It really comes down to work ethic. If Lamar has it he will get better at reading defenses.Comment

Ben’s first playoff game vs the Jets he was 17/30 for 181 yards with 1 TD and 2 INT’s with 4 rushes for 30 yards. One of Ben’s INT’s was in the end zone too.
His second playoff game he was 14/24 with 2TD’s as 3 INT’s and he rushed 5 times for 45 yards.
No one should ever use a QB’s first playoff appearance as a trend.
Ben admitted he was nervous as hell, the game was much faster...
and he didn’t know the whole offense since he wasn’t supposed to do much that first year besides hold a clipboard.
It’s part of the reason he extended so many plays because he wasn’t reading defenses pre snap.
and no, I’m not saying Jackson will be as good as Ben. Just pointing out that the playoffs usually expose rookie QB’s.
It’s rather odd that folks would point out how a QB who went 6-1 and saved a team and coaches season will only get worse with a full camp as the franchise QB.Last edited by Oh wow; 07-29-2019, 01:33 PM.Comment

The Baltimore Ravens won't shy away from riding Lamar Jackson's legs.
Joining NFL Network's Inside Training Camp Live Sunday, coach John Harbaugh was asked by ex-Ravens coach Brian Billick what the pitch count on Jackson running this season might be, noting Cam Newton's career-high is 139 rushing attempts.
"I'd bet the over on that one. I'd bet the over for sure," Harbaugh said without hesitation. "It's going to be interesting. I don't think we know the exact numbers or the math."
Jackson besting Newton's career-high wouldn't be a surprise. The Ravens quarterback already beat that last season, rushing 147 times as a rookie. Jackson averaged 17 rushes per game in his seven regular-season starts. Extrapolate that out and it's 272 for a 16-game slate -- for comparison, only Ezekiel Elliott earned more than that last season among running backs.
Detractors will point out that if Jackson carries the ball that much, he likely won't make it through 16 games.
The more interesting part of Harbaugh's plans for Jackson is that the Ravens aren't just looking to run the QB more than any in history, the picture is bigger. Much bigger.
Harbaugh and his staff are seeking an evolutionary effect on football.
"If you look back and think of the history a little bit, the game was probably revolutionized with Bill Walsh and Joe Montana," Harbaugh said. "And that's been the model for the last 25, 30 years, and we've all been chasing that model, pretty much, trying to find that quarterback, find that rhythm, and all the things that go with that offense, and it really hasn't changed too much.
"None of us can envision what's to come in the future. I don't know how many of the quarterbacks from the 60s or 70s would have been able to succeed. Not too many, probably. (Dan) Marino, I'm sure, could have played in any era, but a lot of those other guys would not have been great in the west-coast-offense-era. What's the next era going to be? Well, we're about to find out. We're about to find out what the limits are on that. I think it's going to open up opportunities for quarterbacks all across, and in our league, and it's going to make it tough on defenses. So, that's the idea."
It's a big idea. No transformative plan started with a small idea.
Whether Harbaugh's Ravens become an evolutionary force or the latest big idea to fall into the sideline ditch depends greatly on whether Jackson stays healthy and develops into a dangerous passer. If he does, and Baltimore blasts through defenses consistently, teams will be in search of the next Lamar Jackson.

Ben still isn't a pre-snap read guy - not as good as he should be. That's partly why he struggled so much after he lost Arians - and partly why Mike Wallace sucked under Todd Haley. BA was willing to let him freelance a little (where MW was often the beneficiary), while Haley expected that with that many years under center he'd be more likely to make the quick read and good throw. (See: 2018 vs Broncos - btw, if the lineman doesn't get it, the DB gets picks it - that pass had ZERO chance)
Ben was horrible in his first playoff appearance.
He was damn near perfect his second year.Comment

SO... go back to Mike Vick and take Lamar out of the equation.... would you expect a coach to say that i know we just went 11-5, but, he has no clue what's happening in the playbook... we just keep winning cuz when he doesn't see an open guy, he runs and picks up 3rd and 15... has nothing to do with the plays i called or designed...
I guess i wouldn't expect any coach to say that while a player is active - now, if you asked those guys about Mike Vick NOW... hell, Mike Vick says it about himself...
Having said all that...NOW, infusing my opinion... Lamar's Wonderlic was 13.... I'm not judging, but.... dayum2013 MNF Executive Champion!Comment
