I think Jax could have won the SB with their D, but they narrowly missed beating the Pat's who are the best dynasty of all time (who usually have an elite QB and a very good D).

Again, I think the combination of QB and D the Pat's have skews any interpretation of recent SB winning stats.

Maybe E. Manning is another interesting case of a guy that might be less than a very good QB who has won the SB. Or maybe everyone will put him as a very good QB because he won 2 SBs (and so will almost certainly end up in the HOF).
Who were the DB’s on those Giants SB teams? That front four dominated the Pats and the delayed blitz had Brady shook.

That Baltimore D and Bucs D could’ve dragged any QB to the SB too.

A franchise qb is suppose to be good for more then one season. If you have a qb that has to depend on a lights out defense every week to cover for his numerous deficiencies , that’s a sign he’s really not a “ franchise qb”

I think the goal of every team is a lights out D that covers for the QB when he makes a mistake.

          You are correct.
Heck a backup QB won the SB 2 years ago.... doesn't mean you choose that low odds path.

BTW, more backups have won SBs than run first QBs.

I don't consider Steve Young a run first QB but others will argue he is. Young had two great wide receivers and a pro bowl TE. meaning he was hitting down to the third option. That isn't a run first QB in my book.

And I don't consider Russell Wilson a run first QB either. There is a difference in being a mobile QB and a run first QB.

So to answer the question...there have never been any run first QB's to win the Super Bowl. Which is why I'm excited the Ravens have Lamar Jackson.

Still sounds like some of you are just calling bad QB’s run first QB’s.

Any QB who runs a ton of RPO is a run first QB in my book regardless of how well he passes because the threat to run is ALWAYS present and has to be game planned against.

                        Agreed.

Steve Young and Wilson CAN run; but most of the time they move (mobile) to extend the play to throw the ball.

Look at Kapernick; he ran often because he couldn't read defenses. . Even running for 180 yards in a playoff game against the Packers.

Tebow ran, RG3 ran..because they couldn't read defenses to pass. Jackson fits this mold. He'll flame out just like the 3 other guys I just mentioned. Thanks Ozzie. Lovely parting gift you game the Ravens on the way out. hahaha.

Russell Wilson averages more rushing attempts per game than Colin Kaepernick.

Russell Wilson wins so he can’t be a running QB. Only the ones who didn’t succeed are running QB’s.

Looks like they both averaged 5 attempts a game.

Jackson is 6-1 but he will flame out. However, if he continues to win and makes a SB he will no longer be a running QB.

But he didn’t WIN!!! See how that works?

My theory is if a QB like Kap can get to a SB that’s proof it’s possible to win with a QB who runs.
