And I'm not seeing what everyone else is seeing in Mayfield. The whole intoxication, fleeing police thing really puts up my red flags. Yes, he is a great college talent with some shaky mechanics. He makes it work at the college level. He has a rep for being a "spoiled brat". I mean he may mature like Ben did, or he may drink himself out of the league. For a first round pick? Not sure he is worth the risk. He is truly a boom bust pick with some upside if he matures and gets a great QB coach who can work on the footwork. And his arm is slightly above average. He isn't going to break any hands with his fastball.

lol, of course. You always see the negative. lol...
but I doubt he would hang it up if we got knocked out early. That would motivate him to come back IMO.Steelers 27

Like I said, I hope that's not the case.
Its a known fact at this point that he strongly considered it after last year's AFCC.Comment

Again, I’m projecting no Bell and no Ben next season so on opening day you’d have James Connor and either Dobbs, Jones, or some rookie starting in your backfield. You really think any of those 3 guys are gonna move our prolific offense up and down the field for 4 quarters?but here is the thing. I don't want a 5,000 yard passer. I don't think we need a 5,000 yard passer. If we have one more than likely it's because we are getting blown out in games. I'm not big on stats either. I'm more game tape and decision making in the clutch. I've seen enough to know for the money I think Cousins is a bad idea.
I think with the weapons we have we need a ball control type QB. I'm no longer a Landry Jones fan tho.. I really think Dobbs is our guy moving forward until we get a legit franchise QB.Obviously the standard is the standard.Comment

If we drafted him, he could spend time at the bar with Todd Haley working on mechanics and footwork. And I'm not seeing what everyone else is seeing in Mayfield. Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.
Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.
We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.
We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.Comment

In regards to Jacksons passing skills...he has underrated arm strength (he can throw it a mile) and his touch isnt really all that bad...at least not michael vick bad (another guy who could throw endzone to endzone). One thing is the ENTIRE offense went through Lamar and he had no defensive support. The offense they run is tough to evaluate because defenses are completely focused on Lamar and the route tree seems to be similar to what we saw Clemson have with Watkins and Bryant....Watkins would be read one and then bryant would try to get open 25 yards down the field...an absolute nightmare to evaluate. Jackson probably takes time at QB to develop, but theres no doubt hes an NFL athlete at some positionComment

And there would be the challenge...reading defenses and knowing your progressions on any given play...not that he isn’t capable, he just hasn’t necessarily had to do it before...he could be a Deshaun Watson or a Dak Prescott...or not...In regards to Jacksons passing skills...he has underrated arm strength (he can throw it a mile) and his touch isnt really all that bad...at least not michael vick bad (another guy who could throw endzone to endzone). We now know that Cleveland will be picking 1st and 4th (from Houston) in the draft, Cincy will be picking 12th, and Baltimore will be picking 16th.
Cleveland also owns their own second round pick plus Houston and Philly's second round picks as well.
With a competent front office led by John Dorsey (as opposed to that baseball analytics dude who was played by Jonah Hill in Moneyball), they could potentially do some damage.
They have their choice of QB's at the top of the draft (whoever ends up grading out the highest out of Darnold, Rosen, Allen, etc.) and could come back with Saquon Barkley at #4 (after seeing the impact that a dynamic early RB pick like Zeke Elliott or Leonard Fournette had in Dallas and Jacksonville had as rookies).
They already have a strong OL if Joe Thomas comes back healthy (their interior line featuring Bitonio, Tretter, and Zeitler is solid), plus a promising young TE in Njoku, Josh Gordon looked good in his return, and if fellow Baylor wideout Corey Coleman develops, maybe they'll have something there (maybe they can use some of their plentiful free agent dollars to lure Terrelle Pryor back since he was a much better player in Hue Jackson's system than Jay Gruden's).
On defense, they have some guys that you can build around like Myles Garrett, Danny Shelton, Emmanuel Ogbah, Jamie Collins, Joe Schobert, Christian Kirksey, Jabrill Peppers, etc. They could potentially use their four picks on day two of the draft to supplement the D if they use those top 2 picks on potential franchise QB and RB.
I don't think it will take very long for Cleveland to surpass Cincy in our division if they draft well this year and add some quality pieces in free agency.Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Way too much like Michael Vick; Can't read defenses, arm strength but lack of accuracy...nope. I've seen this type of QB before and I don't want anything to do with those type of QB's. Also, QB's that have that type of running skill for the most part never develop the skill set needed to be a good to great NFL QB. The running thing is too heavily ingrained in their DNA in that they always think their legs can bail them out of any difficulty. In regards to Jacksons passing skills...he has underrated arm strength (he can throw it a mile) and his touch isnt really all that bad...at least not michael vick bad (another guy who could throw endzone to endzone).
