No, not Gentry. He is not mentioned at all. Only mention is that he is effectively repklaced by Washington.

Two reasons for Pickens over DJ. I am not a DJ hater, but Pickens skillset is simply better in that scenario.

1. If we DO run he is a preferred blocker. And having little DJ on the bench sells the intent to run more if we DO pass.
2. Who is more likely to catch a deep pass. DJ excels in getting free short with quick bursts but does not tend to be effective beating people with deep speed
Pickens is not only better the longer the route, even covered his contested catch prowess makes him the better choice.

I think having Pickens is fine. Maybe even better. Particularly for blocking.

I don't think we're throwing deep in 4th and 1. And I think DJ is more likely to be able to get open in a must convert situation. And while it wasn't the case last year, before that he was also very good at YAC.

Some of the offense execution and play calling are best classified as what was the coach thinking. This goes for ILB's last year covering wide receivers. The OC and DC are to blame as well as the head coach.

I think the game plans of such are what you get when you leave it up to Tomlin who is NOT the most cerebral coach you want game planning (vast understatement). Here's hoping that Kahn has stepped in to reduce the amount of actual game planning Tomlin is involved in.

I really fear a case of run, run, 3rd and longs popping up too often. And to keep putting Kenny in 3rd and longs is not giving him a fighting chance.
