LJ won in the fact he set a high target which likely got him more money in the end. The fully guaranteed was NEVER going to happen (Watson's contract was an anomaly by a stupid, desperate franchise and everyone knew it) but he kept it out there as a talking point that had to be addressed.
He also won by delaying long enough for the next round of contracts to start to get signed.
Just waiting now for the next round of his injuries to occur so the Ravens are screwed
i mean we should all be happy, as Steeler fans, he took this much time to get a contract done.
with Baltimore trying to install a new offense this year. The less time he has to grasp it, the better for us.
In his 5th year he was still doing his 1 read and I’m running routine. This should bode well for us
but we know some have agendas are are happier lamaar got the biggest contract out there ( for now).
lol at those thinking it’s sone kind of vindication when that’s what Baltimore was offering from the beginning.Last edited by NJ-STEELER; 05-01-2023, 11:48 AM.Comment

LJ's contract already impacting team;
Ravens will NOT pick up Patrick Queen’s fifth-year option
Story by Kyle P Barber • 1h ago
According to The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec, the Baltimore Ravens will not pick up the fifth-year option of inside linebacker Patrick Queen’s contract.
The deadline to pick up the option was Tuesday, May 2 at 4 p.m. ET. According to overthecap.com, the option would cost the Ravens $12.722 million. Now, Queen will become a free agent following the 2023 season.
The news was expected as Ravens General Manager Eric DeCosta declined to commit to the option after multiple times being asked about it. This, paired with the record-setting contract the Ravens gave inside linebacker Roquan Smith following their trade of two draft picks to acquire Smith gave hint the team wasn’t satisfied with Queen’s production.
Then on Friday, the Ravens used their only draft pick on Day 2 of the 2023 NFL draft to select inside linebacker Trenton Simpson, rather than take one of the many cornerbacks available at No. 86 overall. When Simpson was picked, Queen gave his reaction on Twitter.
"Sheesh"
Last season, Queen thrived when paired with Smith. In their nine games together, Queen produced 64 tackles, six quarterback hits, four passes defensed two forced fumbles and 1.5 sacks. From Week 9-18, Queen became the No. 15 linebacker per PFF, with a 76.7 overall grade and a top 10 coverage linebacker, with a 75.7 grade.
Since Queen was drafted in 2020, he’s not missed a game, starting in all 50 contestsComment

bwahaha.. this is actually true.
how many times have we seen “but what about Lamar” pop up in threads that had NOTHING to do with him since he was drafted.
“certain people always defend Lamar, I wonder why?”
meanwhile we were talking about 3rd down conversions in the last Steeler game vs the Jets..Steelers 27

But every good team is going to eventually have that same problem, no? I guess the strategy is to try to have your team near its best with your QB on a rookie contract while your division foes have theirs on a cap punishing one.Comment

This is a great point, every team is going to have this problem or are trying to set themselves up to have this problem. You search for a franchise guy at QB and eventually you have to pay him.Comment
