LJ has 185 mill in the bank no matter what happens. 71% of his contract is set in stone. Win or loss for LJ?

    holy Christ dude.

yeah. He got a big contract.
a contract he was getting from the start. I’ve never argued he wasn’t going to get that big of a deal.
I and others said he’ll never get that fully guaranteed deal he wanted. He was trying to get a type aof contract that no other team was going to offer.
And guess what, that was correct no matter how you guys try to spin this.

the author is laughable in his attempt to say he won like he planned it all out this way. That’s what I had an issue with.

wtf is wrong with you guys. always defending lamaar.
he plays for our biggest rival if you didn’t notice

if he wanted a fully guarenteed deal as we all heard, he lost

if he wanted a deal that every QB in the league has except for watson. he won

Of all the thing message board members could get stuck into each other over, the contract of the QB of our divisional rival seems a weird hill to die for.

                Basically.. lol.

I think its smart to start with the highest contract and work your way back.

I also love how people say he only received a “few more mill”

if 260 mill without an agent is losing.. lol

LJ won in the fact he set a high target which likely got him more money in the end. The fully guaranteed was NEVER going to happen (Watson's contract was an anomaly by a stupid, desperate franchise and everyone knew it) but he kept it out there as a talking point that had to be addressed.

He also won by delaying long enough for the next round of contracts to start to get signed.

Just waiting now for the next round of his injuries to occur so the Ravens are screwed

yup.. everyone focused on the Watson deal like it was all or nothing. Others kept saying he was an idiot for not having am agent and could tell get it done without one.

but since he didn’t get what he demanded in the beginning it was a fail and he was an idiot for waiting it out instead of signing a few months ago?

In conclusion he was foolish to think another Watson deal was possible, but at the end of the day the kid cashed in.

Me too. Jackson has been injured twice and missed ten games in the past two years. Just wait until gets hurt again. Any game now... The Ravens will have a hard time building a team around him with so much cap space taken by Lamar Jackson! I love it. It's perfect.
Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***

Which is why the super athletes at QB tend to have short careers if they aren't average to above average passers. Just like Ben lost his magic when he stopped being able to carry multiple DL while throwing bombs.
I think franchises are reasonable when it comes to business decisions regarding injuries.

I think if he was still holding out and prepared to sit out or play on the tag it would’ve been foolish. I don’t think its foolish to start with the Watson deal. IMO it would’ve been foolish not to try.

Pretty sure his “team” reached out to let Screaming A know that they never demanded a Watson contract to begin with. Is this true? Probably not, but I think people also ran with the information they wanted and most of us have no idea what the actual back and forth was for either party.

I think the most logical conclusion is Lamar wanted a Watson contract (who wouldn’t) but that was nixed early in the negotiations and then it was simply about banging out numbers until they both came to a number that worked.

I think franchise really want to win all the time. Especially when they have QBs on cheap deals.

If that QB is actively sabotaging that goal, I think they won't last long in the league.

I don't know why you construct these theories. When a guy misses games because he's hurt. The reason he's missing games is because he's hurt. Especially when that guy is the biggest key to victory the team has.
