If we start with the premise that Tomlin is a bad coach, why do we use McVey, one of the best young coaches in the game as a comparison? If we want to talk about how awful he is we should be comparing him to a bad coach, not a good coach, and when he compares poorly then there is a reasonable argument against him.

when that fails, we see points like Tomlin isn't as good as McVey because McVey takes responsibility after his team lays an egg. Is that now the mark of a good coach? If a team goes 0-17 but after every game the coach takes the blame then he would be the greatest coach in the league!

Tomlin gets way too much discussion on this board, despite the fact that a Head Coach should be talked about a lot. However, to blame/credit him for every draft pick, every individual player development, the accuracy of every quote, the given timeline of every injury and how it is reported is ridiculous, and just shows how far people will go to inject him into the conversation.
I agree. Politics and Football should not mix. But Tomlin did it twice, once while having a team vote not to come out for the anthem ( vote was close with many wanting to stand for it in the Bears game ). We were the only team to remain inside. Another time by hosting Hillary Clinton in his house, which further dived the players. If my boss told me what to do via vote on such a topic he would be fired.
Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***

People argue Watt and Pickett COULD NEVER be Tomlins choices.

Just like ignoring the fact that Tomlin ROUTINELY takes responsibility, for bad decisions, if it does not fit the fire Tomlin agenda they just make up what they WANT to believe.

I don't disrespect people who want a change. Heck, at one point it was time to move on from Noll. I do take issue with dismissing every Tomlin accomplishment, or making stuff up that is simply false in pursuit of a false narrative.
I assume people can’t help it and are just overly influenced by negativity biases which is just part of the natural order.

Just consider you drive an 30 minutes to work. One person cuts you off and it impacts 10 seconds of your drive. The rest of the drive is fine, pleasant, you listen to music, you have some alone time for your thoughts, it’s a nice day, you’re driving with the top down, getting some sun, etc.

But it’s likely that guy that cut you off is all you remember about the drive and it irks you for the rest of the day. That was less than 1% of your trip but it shaped your whole view of driving.

You get angry that people are idiots, can’t drive, maybe it was a woman, maybe it was a millennial, a foreigner, a Tesla driver, a clunker, a guy with a climate change bumper sticker, etc. And that negativity bias Carrie’s over into your stereotyping of women drivers, rich drivers, poor drivers, etc. and you just become ridiculous because of the negativity bias.

We all do it to some degree. The question is how long does it last for you? Some people can let things go instantly. Others will hold on to them forever.

So is life. But if you can help pull people out of negative cycles, everyone is generally nice and positive and likes to laugh and have a good time.

It's pretty unlikely that we'll get a 4th we'll announce average coach in a row when we go back to his the next guy.

But who knows. It was unlikely to get 3 in a row too.
and not just in Pittsburgh. raven fans wanted to give harbaugh the boot entering jackson's rookie year.

NY fans wanted coughlin (and eli) gone in the middle of the year in their 1st SB

its just what fans do. i don't understand why some are surprised by it. happens in all sports as well

your boss would not be fired if he asked the company to vote on something as unimportant as coming out for the anthem. If anything, forcing your employees to stand for the anthem is what could get a boss fired. Remember, teams weren't required to do this until the military cut the NFL a check.

and IMO forcing anyone to do something patriotic goes against everything our military fought for..

not sure how Tomlin doing something on his own time has any impact on the team. He didn't force players to attend or donate.

How is Tomlin giving the team the power to vote on it wrong? The only other logical conclusion is Tomlin ruling with an iron fist.

So the other argument is suggesting a coach shouldn't be able to host any politician regardless of party because it divides the team. The Steelers own all aspects of players and coach? They can't have views and opinions on anything? Should they not vote as well?

When the hate is irrational you end up hearing some ridiculous examples of why that coach is incompetent. It's comical
