I said he didn't play well. my argument was he wasn't the only reason we lost.
those 3 you mentioned were all given off week 17. whose choice was that? certainly looked like they were all pretty rusty.
IMO we were outcoached as badly as ben played. by a rookie coach that wasn't even on the team's sideline. they had no answers or adjustments for anything cleveland wanted to do
For once can someone name me a game where Ben was off, but the Steelers won a significant game? Anyone? IMO Ben saved Tomlin as he has 35 with quarter comebacks meaning the defense didn't shut them down and 46 game winning drives meaning he won the game by having the ball last when scoring points. WOW. That magic.
The Steelers think Ben is fine. I disagree, he's 39 years old and his arm is no longer the same. Maybe he's the 12th best QB these days, a far cary when you could argue he was top 6, Age can make Jerry Rice average. Without Ben I think this team is gunning for .500 and 2nd place and that's years ago. We do not win with a tight game plan, with focused players and top coaching. Those days were gone when Cowher retired, only to be saved in many cases with Ben's 4th quarter magic.
Yes I woud trade a lot for Rodgers. We have the cap space for it and he's still a top 3 QB. Ben deserves a special day here, but give me Rogers and I'm talking Super bowl. Don't care if we are giving away Ben and 2 first round picks to make the deal. Apparently Green Bay is demanding a good QB in return for the trade as former 1st round pick Jordan Love is bust in practice. Yes--this trade can happen.Last edited by Joel Buchsbaum; 05-18-2021, 09:46 PM.Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.
Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.
*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***Comment

I doubt anyone else touches the ball as much as the an to actually have an opportunity % wise to do so.How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?Comment

I went back and watched NOD second pick in the SB and still don’t know what he saw. Tough to blame it on a WR when there isn’t one in the zip code.Help me find my post proving I am a Yinzer!
I will tip my hat to Tomlin if he has a winning record and the team makes the play-offs in the upcoming season.Comment

Maybe you are too young to remember Roethlisberger's first SB? One of the worst QB performances in a SB in history. Hines Ward had more TD passes than Roethlisberger.Comment

Really? People are blaming receivers for Bens picks last year. You just called them on it.
But a couple of days ago you had this interchange:

AFC championship.
One QB throws TDs to Santonio Holmes and Jerricho Cotchery zero picks and has a 102 rating on the day.
The other QB has zero TDs, 2 picks 133 yards and a 35 rating. His only scoring for the day is 2 points for the other team as he is sacked for a safety.
Is Ben QB 1 or 2?
Hint...QB 2 wins the game and gets to the SB to play the Packers.
Win despite zero TDs, 2 picks 133 yards, sacked for a safety, and a 35 rating? Does that count as a "bad game" in your book?Last edited by Captain Lemming; 05-19-2021, 08:49 AM.sigpic

No Ben didn't play well, Pouncey spotting the Browns six points and getting pushed backward destroying the running game, and Heyward like you said doing little didn't help. Nor did Tomlin's game plan, who ended the year 1-5. Yes we were also outcoached.

How about his first SB in Detroit? Is that game significant enough?Comment

I said “plenty if people” for a reason. I never said I believed it.
Its been a debate/rumor for years regarding those 2 INT’s and the hot route.

9/19 for 144 yards.. 0TD’s and 2INT’s.
One INT was in the endzone and severely under thrown.
Jets missed 2 game winning FG’s in the open end of the stadium.
It was Ben’s first playoff game and he admitted he was scared as hell.Steelers 27

Dizz, we can only hope Harris come come close to your "elusiveness".
I will grant the fact that you did not explicitly say you KNOW the receiver ran the wrong route. Which is reasonable as I don't know how we could know for sure.
I will suggest that your bringing it up as counter to Maniacs statement implies that it is a legit excuse if that common view is correct.
If the possibility receivers running the wrong route is a legit consideration in evaluating NOD, it is equally a consideration in evaluating Ben...something you are dismissive of.sigpic
