This is kind of funny, trying to determine who is responsible for the loss to the Browns. How is the answer not simple? ALMOST EVERYONE!

Pouncey made crucial errors
Ben made crucial errors
Tomlin made crucial errors
DJ made crucial errors
The rush D was listless
The receivers sucked

And that's off of memory. I'm sure that rewatching the game - if I even had the stomach for that - would bring me many more examples of players and coaches in black and gold coughing up opportunities.

And as of today...none of it matters. Learn from the last 6 games and move on. Do we think that lessons were learned? We'll see soon enough.

I think how it all unfolded made it hard to overcome. Sometimes everything goes wrong... and it all went wrong in the first 5 minutes of the game.

This.

We all wanted a fast start. But we wanted to be going forward, not in reverse!

How can you coach up the defense? Every time Butler was about to teach them up they were being thrown back into the fire...

Butler: ..and guys, this is important, you must..

sideline: DEFENSE, BACK ON THE FIELD!!!

The Steelers need a modern offense. They have been woefully behind the NFL curve with pre-snap motion. Steelersdepot says they used motion on a total of ~38% of plays. This isn't even close to the top ten teams;

Capture by R W, on Flickr

Fortunately help is on the way in the form of Canada. According to PFF Canada led all Power 5 schools in the use of motion at the college level before moving to the NFL. The benchmark in the NFL is Shanahan. And the Niners have the players to do it extremely well. Kittle, Samuel, Coleman, Sanders, and that OL. Their offense carried them to the SB in 2019. And the beauty is you don't need a HOF QB to run it. Just a guy that can make the right reads. Divisional opponent BAL is right there with the Niners in use of motion.

Now, it's true I expect some early rough going considering the inexperience of the OL but hopefully the skill guys can help overcome any gaffes. Should be a fun watch this season as the offense evolves....

My point is everyone has bad game is they play long enough. Tomlin fans just point Ben's way to absolve him of past blame. Why do you think this is so?
Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***

if that was your point why did you ask that question if you knew the answer?

Hopefully the rumors of change to our offense aren't the normal fluff we hear every year in the off season.

But maybe even having the same plays but better in-game play calling will result in improvement...If the called plays are the ones that get run.

I think expecting big changes to things like play-action or plays under center is just setting yourself up for disappointment.

.

Anything and I mean anything has to be an upgrade from Fitchner's offense. Although Randy seems to be a great guy and possibly good QB coach in my eyes he was the worst OC in the league and the worst one the Steelers ever had. That includes Joe Walton.
Help me find my post proving I am a Yinzer!

I will tip my hat to Tomlin if he has a winning record and the team makes the play-offs in the upcoming season.

smh... disappointed they will again kowtow to Roethlisberger. But I am not surprised if they do. After all, look what the last OC did. How'd that turn out?

I’m hoping this is just Canada saying what he knows Ben wants/needs to hear.
