Angry?... just passing along information on the guy. Please see the most recent post if you are interested in positive news.

I doubt NC has that little faith in our FO. You do, but based on NCs history I don't get that vibe from him. So I assume it's something else.

I mean maybe it's just me but your "tone" seems upset that we didn't pass on an all upside prospect for peanuts.

Why do you think he's angry about it?

I think he's just putting more weight on his NFL play than his NCAA play. That doesn't seem too unreasonable given how many QBs look good in college but not the the bigs.

I hope Haskins works out because it means we'll get at least 1 cheap year (I think he's still exclusive or RFA after next season). I was even unduly excited about it when it happens.

But is he really that much different than Paxton Lynch?

You've obviously seen more of him than I have (only a couple youtube clips on my end). But taking a wait and see approach seems prudent for QBs that flame out. Especially since it's almost impossible for an early QB pick like this to flame out so early.

But I'm crossing all of my fingers and toes over here.

I think it’s a great signing, low risk, high reward. Let’s see how it works out
Help me find my post proving I am a Yinzer!

I will tip my hat to Tomlin if he has a winning record and the team makes the play-offs in the upcoming season.

I'm indifferent at this point but here's the question for me; it's a one year deal. If Roethlisberger returns this season then when exactly will Haskins get the chance to prove himself? Preseason? What if there isn't one or it's shortened to a couple of games? Where does Rudolph fit in this picture? This signing makes more sense if Roethlisberger doesn't come back. Maybe this is a more telling story on the Steelers perception of Rudolph's future as a starter, especially if rumors that the Steelers may go after yet another QB?

I’ve always considered the Haskins signing an indication of not being satisfied with MR.

Maybe, but I think it is more low risk, high reward venture. Bring the kid in and work with him, see how he responds.

That too. This will give Canada/Sullivan plenty to work with.

both can be true but I think its simply a low risk/high reward signing.

Do we view this with other positions or just QB? We are always looking tor value and kicking the tired on Haskin’s doesn’t mean we don’t like MR.

I think it's short sighted at best to JUST look at his NFL in a dysfunctional franchise. There were multiple reasons that Haskins didn't look like Haskins with Washington and some of that is on him. But, not all of it is on him. If you can work through progressions at the college level you can do so at the NFL level. If you have a strong arm in college that won't change in the pros. If you are accurate you tend to be more accurate in the pros. His issue was multi-factoral but I truly believe the biggest reason is he didn't do the work to understand the NFL game. IF he does the work, shows patience and allows the Steelers to develop him...he has the ceiling of being a franchise QB. And I'm not the only one who thinks that. I believe the Steelers think that as well.

I have a couple thoughts on this...I think they believe he can possibly beat out Rudolph for the back up position. OR...this is more of a test to see if he is willing to put in the work it takes to become great. If he is the first one in, last one out and shows to be a good teammate? Well, they will hang on to him and sign him to a longer deal.

I think its odd how people are taking Washington at their word and believe Haskin’s has no upside. That FO is a mess and there was a power play taking place with Rivera and Snyder.

I don’t blame Rivera one bit for removing Haskins to show the players he has total control and won’t be over ruled by Snyder.

Maybe Haskins was overdrafted but we get him on the cheap and there is no pressure on us to make this work out. But if it does? Its a great move.

its like buying a nice car at an auction. It could be a steal but it may have more damage than its worth but you can still sell it for parts and probably make a few bucks.

I’m thinking that even if Ben comes back and plays every snap, Haskins would have had the opportunity to show the coaches his personality, work ethic, ability etc etc etc.
if he looks like he improved as a player and person, Haskins would more than likely sign again with us knowing he has a legit chance to start. Once again, on the cheap.
I don’t see another team throwing big money at him if he never sees the field.
No matter how it turns out(barring some insane stuff) this should work out for the steelers.
                                I still like this signing.
I’ll like it even more if Ben retires.
How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?
