We don't have a QB under contract after next season so this could just be trying to find a longer term back up.

But could it be that Ben isn't coming back and we wanted competition for the starting job?

I don't know much about Haskins, but if he has any mobility he might fit into what Canada likes to do better than Mason.

The plot thickens. It's going to be an interesting off season (although we'd all prefer that we were still in the post season).

Edited: This was maybe part of the links above that I didn't check, but it's only 1 year...Why would he sign here so quickly on a 1 year contract if he didn't think he'd have a chance to play?

I too am curious about the money.
Something just doesn’t seem right tho.
Unless he got real good money or was told Ben is done, signing now doesn’t make sense.
