I believe that is all you can sign now. I don't think that you can sign a contract until the new league year starts, so this is the kind of contract that anyone would sign.

This is low risk. Smart decision.
He's a known bum who is immature. Why add a guy like this?

So you don’t believe in second chances? Ben was the definition of immature early in his career.

Haskins is talented. No risk to see if he can thrive in Pittsburgh.

I believe in second chances for most things, but I also think that when a person shows you who they are, believe them the first time.

As long as the leash is cut the first time he puts himself before the team, I don't mind seeing what Tomlin can do for him. Then again, seeing what Tomlin did for AB, Bell, and now Juju/Claypool, I don't have high hopes.

              You are correct.
I still can’t get over that with his arrogance he doesn’t think he can get more money once FA starts.
              And I would agree.
How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?

                  Ben Roethlisberger
                  Tommy Maddox
                  Michael Vick
                  Byron Leftwich
                  Paxton Lynch
                  Dwayne Haskins

I will be always grateful for Maddox: 1.) Ended the Kordell experiment. 2.) Got hurt which ushered in the Ben ERA.

I will tip my hat to Tomlin if he has a winning record and the team makes the play-offs in the upcoming season.

some bums turn their life around.

but he isn’t a bum. Just a young kid who didn’t work out in Washington.

I swear, people act like this dude went to China and brought back some bat soup.

If it doesn’t work out we cut him.. but if he does work out its a buy low, sell high business decision.

I mean.. look how people talk about him on here. I think he knows his options are limited. Where exactly would you think he could go right now and make more money?

He just left Carolina without an offer. Draft will be here before we know it. This is like the Cam Newton signing in NE. He played for peanuts because there was no where else to go.

Ben was immature in a different way: He never was accused to not putting in an effort in watching film, practicing, etc. Haskins is aloof all the way around. When your team dumps you in a run up to making the playoffs, that's a really bad sign. And they couldn't even trade him for a bucket of spit. Are these the kind of moves we can expect trying to reload at QB? 1980's and 90's all over again? Malone, Stoudt, Woodley, Frankengram, NOD, Tomczak, Kordell...oh, wait, we had Bubby too.

It may not be a risk but it shows we are not going to address QB in the draft. It's my opinion people gave up on Mason too soon. Not every one is going to get a Mahomes. It takes time to progress. Mason led a team just a few weeks ago that went into the second round of the playoff's. The Browns played with all starters against a Pitt team that set starters on the Offense and Defense. He played very good and nearly got the win. Mason will beat out everyone for the #1 or #2 position. Haskins is 3rd string if or I say when Ben plays next year.
