There you go bringing up a rational explanation. We lost so hysteria is the flavor of the day. Ben's three INTs lost this game not clock management. To dwell on that is just stupid when there are so many other obvious reasons we lost.

In today's pass happy NFL, 1st and 10, 2nd and 10 or even 3rd and 10, I don't think you're limiting the playbook, because you aren't running the ball regardless. You need chunks of yards to try and score a TD the down and distance are mostly irrelevant unless, of course, there's a penalty and it becomes 2nd or 3rd and 20, then its an issue and you're limited to the part of the playbook that can pick up 20 yards in one play.

Or, if we use the TO, Cincy calls a different play and the clock does not stop. I believe saving the TOs for offense to be the right call, so you aren't forced to use the sidelines.

Exactly - that's such a silly argument. They could have called a play to AJ or Eifert on 3rd down and ended the game right there. We only had one timeout left.

So you use your timeouts to save 10 seconds in order to try and use spikes to stop the clock? It takes more than 10 seconds if you complete a pass down the field to get up on the line and spike it and you lose a down.

you knew what the rest of us couldn't begin to comprehend......that the Bengals could have called a different play then rutfm if the Steelers call a time out and not let the 2 minute warning call it. there are kids with Madden who could do EVERYTHING better. What does a head coach do besides motivate, game plan, clock management, evaluator of talent and developer of said talent? Going down the list. He's glaringly horrible at clock management. When you watch games and it approaches the 2 minute mark at halftime or end of games, he looks like a deer in headlights. He's totally oblivious and a detriment as a coach. He's a defensive minded coach (specifically defensive backs) but nothing he's ever done as a coach (worst passing defense as coordinator for Vikings the year he took over) since he's been here has shown he can identify or coach secondary players let alone the whole defense. We have ample evidence that he fails to motivate the team going by the performance from week to week especially against lesser competition. We've also had to deal with multiple infractions by several players during his tenure which means they don't fear/respect him as a leader of men. Sure he listens to the same music and knows the lingo but that's not leadership. So in summation:

Not a good motivator
Not good at clock management
Has failed to identify or develop defensive stars (especially at his bread and butter the secondary)
Consistent lapses in team identity (run? pass? blitz? zone?) leaves his game planning suspect

Pray tell fanboys what he does well? All the evidence points to me being right that he coasted when hired because he was given a franchise QB and SB caliber defense with coordinators/coaches all in place. Name another head coach ever hired that wasn't given the chance to hire his own staff? Let's face it, the Rooneys wanted to make a statement by hiring a black guy. He did next to nothing and stood on the sidelines and watched the loaded team be amazing. As soon as those amazing players aged/retired/left and he then had to reload the team in his own image the defense sucks, they've failed to win a playoff game and are in danger of continuing that trend through this season.

Is it blind love because you share the same skin color? Is it white guilt? It cannot be because of his coaching.
