Why is this board so ugly after a loss?

      Who are you again?

Seriously, hope all is well down under 'I'man I always just figure when people don't post, either their lives are going great or they died. Glad it's not the latter in your case.

The way I see it is people are going to be extremely high after wins or extremely down after losses. It's easier to get down after any loss than it is to get up after a win because we've had the good fortune of being so high after so many SuperBowls that nothing else can get us there.

This is just our escape from the real world. And I think we all want to get that super buzz from the escape. We want it so bad that it makes us a little irrational. But who isn't irrational about something?

Just like the team's success ebbs and flows, so do our emotions. I take everyone with a grain of salt. For me, I don't really even notice the negativity of others because I tend to live my life in my own emotional high no matter what's going on around me. Of course I'll notice the patterns of others, but it's never anything that has an emotional impact in my pea brain.

This may sound odd, but I take enjoyment when our team struggles from time to time. The main reason is I know these down times are going to make us appreciate the good times even more when we win our next SuperBowl. I see this board as a microcosm of life growing up in Pittsburgh. There were always grumpy old guys complaining about everything and there always will be. It's probably the same in every part of the world. Actually I know it is at least everywhere I've been. Angry bastards make the world go round. And they've always been a part of the sports culture in Pittsburgh whether it's the Steelers, Pirates, or Penguins.

And to this day, it still makes me laugh. I see Pittsburgh versions of Archie Bunker or Eric Cartman abound. If we're going to laugh at the characters on tv, why not laugh at each other. Real life is really funnier when you pay close attention.

When we win the next SuperBowl, we'll all appreciate it more. Who really wants a team to go 19-0 every year? (Ok, y'all know I do, but that's beside the point) For me personally, I post less often just cause I'm busy. It's more of a life happens sort of thing. The grumpy old farts don't bother me in the least. I think they're kinda cute actually This is just a part of the culture of Steelers fandom and brings back the nostalgia as much as anything else for me.

      Happy Halloween all!!!!

Have you even paid attention to the Defense? Blake is missing more tackles then he makes! I say bench him for Boykin, but apparently that is some type of sin! Just keep sitting on your hands with your night shade blinders on, cheering for the mistakes that our grandchildren will still be paying for years.

I come here to bixch and moan that our vaunted HOF QB single handedly lost us the game.

This would never have happened with Ben of 09. He's lost a mental step somewhere. I dont feel at all confident with 2 minutes to go and down 7. At that point the game seems over. THis has been the case since midgeville.

Does anyone have any stats for how many times we have pulled one out when handed the ball in the final 2 minutes with 3 or 7 to go in the past 5 years?

Defense played great, running game was decent, Ben stunk the place up. I'm thinking that will be the majority opinion this week.
Obviously the standard is the standard.

Ben suffers from the Tiger Woods syndrome... once you take the bad boy out of these guys they are never the same.

absolutely. When Ben plays within the system Haley set up he does great. When he has brainfarts like today where he forces things downfield instead of taking easy completions he stinks. I know the fanboys will cry "Fire Haley" but these types of games are all on Ben. Multiple times there were underneath crossing routes, curls, and RBs out of the backfield wide open that he refused to pass to because he's in love with himself and always wants to be the hero. Tough loss. Sucks even more because Dalton is awful and Lewis is one of the few HCs worse than Tomlin. Nobody besides Doc Rivers does less with more than Lewis.

I'll concur. And we knew Ben would probably stink coming back from injury.

Where are the Steelers in the Wild Card standings now? I wonder if some of y'all still think the loss to KC didn't matter...

And what was with giving up all that time before the 2-minute warning? Tomlin continues to enrage me with his (lack of) clock management skills. Probably going with his "gut" again. Here's a hint: ignore your gut and start using your head. Or HIRE an ASSISTANT to HELP with managing the CLOCK.

Ben lost us the game. He wanted to do too much because he felt the pressure, not only from the fans and media, but from the coaches as well. AB was open on that last play at the goal line. Tomlin is still a major ding dong and that'll never change. Should have tried kicking that 53 yarder with a kicker that hasn't missed. He should have used his timeouts differently to save the most amount of time. Plenty of blame to go around today and surprisingly Blake isn't part of it. I'll be sick the rest of the year with Bell injured. Doesn't look good for him. I just hope he can come back without limitations whenever he returns.

Tomlin did fine and managed the game clock just fine.

He sure did. Well, except for the 38 seconds he let run off......but we didn't need it

Not surprised you'd say that. He did not manage the game clock "just fine." Not saying those 38 seconds are the reason the Steelers lost, but how can Tomlin keep making the same kinds of mistakes over and over?

I'll say it...Those 38 seconds we didn't have lost us the game. At least a legitimate shot at winning it. It would have been a totally different ending if we had that time. Sure, anything can happen, but we could have done so many things differently with that time.
