Why is this board so ugly after a loss?

ehhh, I think that second and third fan are one in the same. If you are a fan of all the Pittsburgh teams and your local high school teams more than likely you are a fan of all things Pittsburgh and a yinzer.
I was born and raised 15 minutes north of the city but I'm also Black and in my lifetime I have never met a Black person from Pittsburgh who says yinz.... but we are one and the same when it comes to all things Pittsburgh.Comment

As I've said before there's like 3 levels of fans who follow the Pittsburgh Steelers. First there's simply Steelers fans who only love the team, live just about anywhere and are generally more casual in their attitudes about how they see the team. Then there are Pittsburgh fans who are loyal to the Pirates, Penguins, Steelers, Pitt, and their local high school sports teams and who are just a little more nutty about their teams. Then there are the third group which of course are Yinzers and most of them cannot be reasoned with when it comes to anything Pittsburgh, especially the Steelers.
The cop who ticketed me was there in uniform. But he could have been in a 43 too for all he cared. It was a very friendly chat.
We never discussed my case (shooting a stop sign).

Does some player have to suck, does some coach have to be hog vomit, some poster have to be a d-bag? Teams win, teams lose. Being sad about a loss is one thing, posting like someone stole your woman and did nasty things to your dog is too much, isn't it?
Speaking for myself, this board is way too over the top way too often. It makes it a lot less enjoyable to come here than I wish it was. Any chance of people making a conscious decision to dial it down?
I still watch the games, and occasionally jump in here to see what is being said, but there are certain posters, or I should say certain 'types' of posters in here that make it their personal mission to get over the top of others.
Why? Don't know.
And I realised I really actually don't care. Hence how easy it is to stop posting.
The arguments against the OP here are exactly what I expected- people defending bad behaviour, insults & to some degree attempts to degrade other Steelers fans in front of the other posters, based on this mythical "Steeler fandome".
Big deal. I love the Steelers as much as the next guy, and when they don't win, I get upset. But I don't ever feel the need to call out someone based on colour, and I'm over trying to make other posters feel like they are wrong for not wanting mass sackings, or everyone agreeing that we have a janitor as our HC, or other stupid rubbish that gets sprouted.
Shame of it is- some of the more vocal idiots actually make valid points, but follow it up with insults or degrading statements towards others that don't see it there way.
THAT, has absolutely ZERO to do with loving the Steelers more than the next guy. That's just people feeling the need to brow beat & degrade others.
If I were a psychologist, I'd suggest there's an inferiority complex at play in real life.
Anyway, I thought I'd support the OP's post as I thought it was valid. Take care all.The people that are trying to make the world worse never take a day off, why should I?

I used to post here quite a lot, but the constant one-upmanship, or in most cases, the constant "internet tough guy" persona that comes out in here has made me less interested in what there is to be said in here.

I doubt anyone even remembers me, because several years ago, I quit posting here regularly for the very same reason.
I joined this board after Trib board was shut down because it seemed like a place with reasonable posters.
It can be exactly that at times, but it has become less of a draw for me recently.
I'll still read, but not like I used to, because there is less of the type of intelligent discussion I look forward to, and a lot more of the stuff you speak of.
And NOBODY speaks in third person anymore.sigpicComment

IMO, there's only a small handful of negative people that are annoying. Why let that stop you from posting? If more people would just ignore the overly negative posts and just continue more positive discussions, then this place would be better overall.
Stopping because of a few negative people only makes the place worse.Comment

Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.
Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.
We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.
We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.Comment

Remember the good old days when you could always count on checking in on a group of fans you would actually enjoying hanging out with in real life, like Chadman, AngryAsian, Jigawatts, Shieky, Pappy, Flippy, Slappy, Ovie, Dukie, Jooser, Felt, DRock, Lonbull, Cos2k1, Pfelix, DJFan, StlrzD, MJG, SN1, FLA, SOD, DOS, JPN, RPM, NKY, SMG, SASF, ENI, FF, Hawaiian, T.O., Phillyesq, Lemming, Ghost, SteelGal, and yes, even "outsiders" like Tiproast, Jom, and Hardliner...and maybe even Queerbait (whoever you were)...sorry if I left anyone out...certainly not intentional...just thinking back to the community we once had here.Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Yep...many moved from the Trib board and had many years of good exchange some agreeing and some disagreeing...sometimes strongly. However, it never reached the level of childish name calling and digital attacks some of the recent "immigrants" to our "Planet" use as standard fare.
Add "Eddie Spaghetti." We disagreed, a lot, but never did we insult or use some of the language and attacks we see now from some of the digital troublemakers who have recently showed up. There is a difference between having strong opinions and arguing for them versus the trash a few people put on here now."My team, may they always be right, but right or wrong...MY TEAM!"Comment
