I wonder if we're going to get a similar statement from MC that we did from Keith Butler after he left, i.e. how Tomlin was really the one calling the plays. I have no doubt it's Tomlin's risk-averse philosophy that informs the offense's identity.
The PFF guys were reviewing the game on their podcast and one just kept calling out the conservative nature of the scheme and how it's almost designed to continually reach 3rd down and bleed clock, no intelligent concepts, and the almost complete avoidance of the MOF.
Canada's coaching scared, Kenny's playing scared until it's time to win the game.
Scared to throw it a bit deeper to Austin?
Austin was scared to catch it even though it hit him in his hands?
Pickens was scared to get his second foot in on the TD?
Kenny said the reason he needs more consistency is because he is scared?
Najee dropped a swing pass because he was scared?
This has nothing to do with fear, its just plays being missed by Kenny, the OL or the WR.Steelers 27

So Kenny is scared to hit Pickens in stride?
Scared to throw it a bit deeper to Austin?

Confidence is huge in sports, the Steelers look timid early in games.Comment

this is why you're largely viewed as a jaggov on this board. someone who is only interested in your own point of view and lives to tell everyone else why they're wrong. I don't think being uncertain about long term success if the steelers continually fail to sustain drives, accumulate yards on the way to scoring and increase time of possession to give the defense a rest and how that may lead to a game, particularly in the one and done playoffs, where they also fail to score more points than the opponent as a result - is so radical.
unless it's not about the point being made, its just another opportunity to perform your superior dance routine that impresses few, convinces even less but likely gets you all tingly thinking you made an epic argument.
They run around trying to be superior to everyone and they are wrong as two left shoes 70 percent of the time. They live to belittle other posters who don’t agree with them. Then when it blows up in their face ( at they end of every season ) they look silly again.

I actually feel like Kenny did not hold back in this game at all. I do think we are forgetting his was injured, might have taken some time to loosen up. But he was anything but playing safe.
But mistakes on Pickens because he was tight? Nah that is silly. You drop the ball for being tight. More likely overconfident lacking focus on the play.
Nevertheless, to your larger point I think there IS a reason Kenny so much better late in general.
When he is in “what can you lose” mode and throws caution to the wind he excels.
Early in games typically he might well be too cautious. I do think that is Tomlin. Like last season it is winning games but I agree we have to loosen up as Kenny matures.
Weird thing is THIS GAME looked like an attempt in that direction. Players just missed on those opportunities.sigpic
In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

Which is why he , Captain Lemming and his other poster name are on my ignore list.

I have only had a personal beef with ONE PERSON EVER on this forum. Because he knowingly LIES about me just like you are doing now.
I drive people away? Name the names. I can name people who YOU have driven away (Ruthlesberger for one).
There is a term for what you do. It is called PROJECTION.
I dont pretend to be superior to anybody. Dont confuse how you feel in relation to me with my discourse with others.
You come at me with personal lies and YES I will make you KNOW you dont want none of this.
I don’t pretend to be superior. I clearly make one person feel inferior because I effortlessly put him in his place whenever I need to.
I use his own words to embarrass him.
How do I know this?
Because every time he take lying potshots at me he hides by blocking me.Last edited by Captain Lemming; 11-05-2023, 12:12 PM.sigpic

Nice try. I enjoy the debate, but it is usually never personal. I don?t call people vulgar names (like you do) or tell blatant lies about them (like you do). There is no reason for people to leave because of me.

If you defend the team or Tomlin you are a ballwasher
yet somehow he believes that is an acceptable way to describe Steeler fans who are optimist or loyal to the team because they grew up Steeler fans and don’t hop off as soon as they hit a rough patch.Steelers 27

had a chance to rewatch the game. A lot of people are thrilled with KP's ability to squeak one out in the 4th quarter. I don't discount that's a skill worth having. But dang. If he hits Dionte twice last week, if he doesn't miss (by my count) 4 game changing throws in this contest - it's likely we enter the 4th quarter not having to mount such heroics. So while I'm still optimistic about Kenny, like you - I'm not sure he is the answer just yet.Comment

Pickett has the worst starting QB performance for the first 3 quarters of the game.
No worries though. He's second best in the NFL in the 4th quarter. 2022 season wasn't nearly this jekyll & hyde like.

Why do some fans think that is bad? It really isn't..... until it is.Comment

They won because KP has the ability to turn it on in the 4th. That’s a great skill to have. My point is he wouldn’t need to tap the skill so often if he can be more precise to start the game. I’m hopeful and optimistic he can improve in that area. If so, he may be the franchise QB we all want to see.2014 MNF EXEC CHAMPION!!!Comment

The Chiefs scored 0 points in the 2nd half vs Miami . Miami scored a total of 14 points. The NFL is a humble machine for coaches, players, and fans.
