You haven't read the gazillion articles about how simple and predictable and sometimes dumb his plays are? At times, he has receivers all running into the same area.

Conservative is one thing. Complete lack of modern-day-NFL creativity is quite another. At least we ran a friggen screen plan last night.

Stop Oviedo. Anyone who knows football knows you can’t keep giving up the yards we do and it not catch up to us. I don’t know about double digit wins but let’s say we do that… and we make the playoffs as a wildcard team. That’s where it ends. And that’s all I was referring to when I said it was unsustainable. You can’t win in the playoffs the way we’re doing. Being out gained every week in yardage .

Your content losing a playoff game for the 7th straight time. That’s some type of victory to you. But for others it’s the same old pattern of nothingness we’ve had for over a decade now.

but I know fans want a playoff appearance and a win, so do I.

Thing is, I also realize we are young and Kenny has yet to make plays that we all expected. It's frustrating but his 4th quarter performances are hard to deny. If he can do it in the 4th he can do it in the other 3 quarters as well. I think the more we play our better players (even though they are younger) the more we will see things improve. There will be growing pains though, young players make mistakes but I also believe we are still just getting started with Kenny. It's been 20 games and midway through the season we are in the playoff hunt.
I hope you're right my friend about Kenny. I really liked Pickett coming out of college. To me he's taken a step back in his growth as a QB. Not sure what is going on there. I do have a little hope though, because he is clutch when it counts near the end of games. It's a weird dynamic with him and puzzling.

I do agree with you that the team won't fire Canada this season. If they are going to this, they'll do it after the season.

You are right about firing Canada. I bet Canada is a good guy. I have nothing against him just his work product. We should maintain the chant unless he shows improvement. "The squeaky wheel gets the grease".

Based on what we have seen , every logical person should feel uncertain. I like Coach Tomlin. I just think his OC is garbage. I think Kenny may be better off calling his own plays. This is a very important time in his development. I don't think Canada is the right guy to do it. Has Canada developed any QB? I don't know.

Let's take this time off, come out and spank the Packers and most of all put more yards on the stat sheet then them.
I am absolutely uncertain. Wins are hard to come by in the NFL so respect is merited for 5-3. But 8 games of being outgained in yardage and time of possession is unlikely to be sustainable and IF the Steelers make the playoffs using this formula I?m really really really uncertain they can win one playoff game let alone making a deep run.

Games are won by the amount of points scored, not the amount of yards.. lol.

we would be 0-8 if this based on yardage.

I too doubt we make a run in the playoffs. We are rebuilding. Reasonable expectations for a team that has a young offense with an unproven QB that we STILL don’t know is the answer.

To provide perspective the GOAT is also in the midst of a rebuild. We have a better record despite a tougher schedule.

this is why you're largely viewed as a jaggov on this board. someone who is only interested in your own point of view and lives to tell everyone else why they're wrong. I don't think being uncertain about long term success if the steelers continually fail to sustain drives, accumulate yards on the way to scoring and increase time of possession to give the defense a rest and how that may lead to a game, particularly in the one and done playoffs, where they also fail to score more points than the opponent as a result - is so radical.

unless it's not about the point being made, its just another opportunity to perform your superior dance routine that impresses few, convinces even less but likely gets you all tingly thinking you made an epic argument.

had a chance to rewatch the game. A lot of people are thrilled with KP's ability to squeak one out in the 4th quarter. I don't discount that's a skill worth having. But dang. If he hits Dionte twice last week, if he doesn't miss (by my count) 4 game changing throws in this contest - it's likely we enter the 4th quarter not having to mount such heroics. So while I'm still optimistic about Kenny, like you - I'm not sure he is the answer just yet.

lmao.. sorry but yardage is not a measuring stick for wins and losses. When will you guys get it?

Sure, we will lose more games, we are still ironing out the wrinkles of a young offense and a QB with 20 games under his belt.

He should work on his game so that he is able to compete at the club. The Steelers have been stuck in neutral in this regard for a long time, and all we keep hearing are excuses and that they're "close".

I wonder if we're going to get a similar statement from MC that we did from Keith Butler after he left, i.e. how Tomlin was really the one calling the plays. I have no doubt it's Tomlin's risk-averse philosophy that informs the offense's identity.

The PFF guys were reviewing the game on their podcast and one just kept calling out the conservative nature of the scheme and how it's almost designed to continually reach 3rd down and bleed clock, no intelligent concepts, and the almost complete avoidance of the MOF.

Canada's coaching scared, Kenny's playing scared until it's time to win the game.
