No one can say how close the Steelers ranked the QBs. What if it was a tie between Pickett and Willis? It could have been as simple as going with the local guy.

Well, after our franchise QB got old and retired, we (at some point) had to try and find our next franchise QB. And this may not be the only attempt. Time will tell. We are just like most teams in the league now in search of a legit QB that's more then a game manager.

hopefully he turns out better than your boy Baker Mayfield did.

-The team scouted each QB exhaustively
-The GM and HC know him very well personally
-The HC and GM have had the chance to "sneak" into practices to actually watch him work with his teammates
-The OC actually recruited him in high school
-His former OC and QB coach is a former Steeler coach

I say all this as someone who did not want this pick. I did not want a QB this draft because I did not think there wasa franchise QB in this draft, but I will admit that my scouting career, and my lack of watching college football, is suspect enough that I can defer to others on this move.
          I like this. Makes sense.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

Right. No arguments there. I'm just saying Dizz the soothsayer looked into his crystal ball and said he is a day one starter. I'm not hating on Pickett. I think he is a good QB but he isn't ready and needs time to develop. What scares me is that Tomlin said he picked him because of his floor not his ceiling. What? Seriously Tomlin? So yall wait until it's desperation time to find a QB?

How is it desperation time when we have Mason and Trubisky?

I read the Tomlin quote totally different. He is saying Pickett’s floor is NFL ready. Not sit and wait for 2 years like people are saying with Willis and hoping his ceiling is incredibly high.

Tomlin is saying right now, Kenny is good enough to be our starter and everything else is a bonus. We didn’t draft hype and the hopes of one day our QB will be NFL ready.

We drafted a Day 1 guy.

I know everyone is riding the Pickett hype train, but my money is still on Trubisky for 2022. I think he is coming on a mission and will show he is a good NFL starter. There is no reason to rush Pickett. His floor is OK but he is not IMO NFL ready.

I think Mitch starts 2022 and Kenny ends it.

Hoping at least one of them looks like an above average starter.

If Mitch played last year I would probably agree.

I started out optimistic but then reality set in and I started thinking Mitch may not even beat out Mason.

I think most people are seeing Josh Allen and hoping Mitch figured a few things out on the sidelines.

But its probably more like Mason. Where you hope more time will improve their game but then they remind you why they are backups.

I think Pickett shines in camp, starts day 1 and never looks back.

He was the most NFL ready of a crap group of QBs. Lets be honest if Pickett came out last year where would he have placed in talent? He would have been 6th. Personally I would have placed him 5th because I think Lance is a lesser talent. Pickett would have likely "fallen" to the second round.

I'll take that bet. I think Pickett is a solid QB prospect but thinking he will beat Trubisky is insane to me. He will have to set camp on fire. If he does, I'll be happy to be wrong but I'm seeing many predictions without anything backing it up. What do you base this prediction on? Because he diced up Syracuse? The dude hasn't played against top talent.

I agree, I'll go on record saying I think Trubisky will be our opening Day 1 starting QB.

I couldn't agree more. Trubisky was a first rounder on a bad team with bad coaches. He has the team who told him he is the starter drafting a first round QB. This is where winners step up. Pickett at best was the 5th best QB talent in last years draft and people are riding his jock. Why? Because he blew up Syracuse? Because he diced up Duke? Geez. It took Pickett 4 years to finally figure it out against bad Ds. Please dear goodness someone show me why they think he will be a day 1 starter against NFL comp when he couldn't figure out bad college comp until year 4? I'm not saying Trubisky is next coming, just saying give Pickett some time and lets see. if he is a day 1 starter then I'll gladly eat my words and be his biggest fan.

And this is the part that most don't/can't see. Nagy was a terrible QB developer and wasn't really in his corner anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if he does better than most think he will.
