Kenny Pickett the SMG breakdown

I know everyone is riding the Pickett hype train, but my money is still on Trubisky for 2022. I think he is coming on a mission and will show he is a good NFL starter. There is no reason to rush Pickett. His floor is OK but he is not IMO NFL ready.

And this is the part that most don't/can't see. Nagy was a terrible QB developer and wasn't really in his corner anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if he does better than most think he will.

Nagy was horrible. Lets be real frank. It's not like Trubisky blew up NFL level talent either. I'm on the record of not loving his draft selection at the time. With that said, he did have tools and he has played against NFL Ds. He has taken a bad team to the playoffs. I'm hoping there is something there to develop. Pickett in my mind is the same exact guy. They are not that different. If anything Trubisky has more experience and a better arm. I think this was a desperate reach.

He was the most NFL ready of a crap group of QBs. Lets be honest if Pickett came out last year where would he have placed in talent? He would have been 6th. Personally I would have placed him 5th because I think Lance is a lesser talent. Pickett would have likely "fallen" to the second round.

Zach Wilson played against top talent?

Trey Lance played against top talent?

Pickett probably goes to the Jets if he had similar stats like in 2021.

Zach Wilson wasn’t special and BYU played nobody in 2020.

I know people love PFF here and they ranked the 2018 Bears defense the second best defense in that decade.

You guys can keep saying Pickett is the same as Mitch but that doesn’t make it true. I also notice the word HOPE is being used a lot when it comes to Mitch’s talent.

I couldn't agree more. Trubisky was a first rounder on a bad team with bad coaches. He has the team who told him he is the starter drafting a first round QB. This is where winners step up. Pickett at best was the 5th best QB talent in last years draft and people are riding his jock. Why? Because he blew up Syracuse? Because he diced up Duke? Geez. It took Pickett 4 years to finally figure it out against bad Ds. Please dear goodness someone show me why they think he will be a day 1 starter against NFL comp when he couldn't figure out bad college comp until year 4? I'm not saying Trubisky is next coming, just saying give Pickett some time and lets see. if he is a day 1 starter then I'll gladly eat my words and be his biggest fan.

Watch out now. Not even sure what last year’s draft has to do with this year but it does show QB’s who played softer schedules go in the top 10 which means those teams weren’t looking for QB’s this year.

and the reason I believe Pickett will win the job is because he has no real comp in front of him. Mason and Mitch are backups and you keep HOPING Mitch will be something he isn’t. you certainly aren’t confident Mitch is the real deal because no one else wanted him as a starter in 2021.

and you have to go back to 2018 for his best year where he had the number 1 defense and was a game manager. Mitch trended in the wrong direction and people can blame Nagy but Mitch made the playoffs with Nagy. So was it Nagy or was it Mitch?

I'll take that bet. I think Pickett is a solid QB prospect but thinking he will beat Trubisky is insane to me. He will have to set camp on fire. If he does, I'll be happy to be wrong but I'm seeing many predictions without anything backing it up. What do you base this prediction on? Because he diced up Syracuse? For the record I think Fields should’ve gone before Wilson and Lance but we all know Buckeye QB’s are suspect once they leave the Big10. So I definitely think the Jets could’ve picked Pickett last year if he had similar stats as this year.

Let me use the same argument. What did Pickett ever do? What did he do to support a day 1 talent? I'm not touting any of the talent outside of Fields and Lawrence. I never once supported those other guys. What I'll say is this Fields when the lights were on ...he lit it up. He outplayed Lawrence.
