If Tomlin is given more control over the team based on recent hirings this is a disaster in the making imo.
Tomlin's kid went to MD? Why am I not shocked? What MD player will Tomlin draft that will turn out to be a bust this year? McFarland (Can't rush without constantly falling down.)? Brooks (Can't cover a lick as a safety all he can do it hit in the box which doesn't cut it)? Derwin Gray (Can't block for s--t_)? Sean Davis (Can't play CB or S, but he runs fast to not doing his job)? But other than those guys, great track record in drafting players from MD. Thank God for his obsession with MD players.

the bengals already had a LT in place (drafted #11 overall the in 2019)

the choice of drafting chase 5 overall was easy. you don't pick a center or guard #5 overall

Tomlin's son Dino has transferred to Boston College, so you will need to start watching their players to see who we draft.

Lol, well if that's the case, Tomlin won't be going to see him in any bowl games anytime soon, since BC skips out on their bowl games every year. No respect for BC

QB driven league ; we’ve all said that many times. Now that we don’t have one , some are talking like we can really do something WITHOUT a real QB.

There are no Derrick Henry’s walking through the door for us to have a marginal guy at QB.
There are several teams with franchise QBs that were worse off than we were this year. Return this OLine to "Top tier" status and I think youd be impressed with the result.

Another potentially disturbing trend with recent drafts. Do other teams do this? The Steelers have been double-dipping at schools since 2017, and it ain't working out. Seems like they are just taking shortcuts here. Did the scouting department get cut five years ago?

I mean, you can get everything at the supermarket, but if you want the best you go to the bakery for the bread and the butcher for the meat.

                2021 - Johnson/Moore, Texas A&M
                2020 - Brooks/McFarland, Maryland
                2019 - Bush/Gentry, Michigan
                2018 - Rudolph/Washington, Ok. St.
                2017 - Sutton/Dobbs, Tenn

NE has done this quite a bit recently, too, but then again they've been panned for some of their drafts.

I added round selected for context.

I think this is fine, especially if one of the guys is a late round pick.

At that point, you're just guessing (even more than normal). So if you saw someone you liked while you were scouting a top pick, why not?

Probably as informative as the real pressers.
How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?
