the Dolphins haven't won squat ever since Shula left, it's really hard to take you serious when you say such stupid things.Comment

Not making the playoffs this year? That will be since 2016 and counting...
Having a losing season the year? A media talking point...
To his backers, please explain to me at what point you want to move and kudos to anyone who can answer and help define this question.Last edited by Joel Buchsbaum; 04-29-2021, 07:47 AM.Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.
Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.
*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***Comment

In 2018-2019 the Jags were 5-11. I think you are talking about 2017 when The Steelers were 13-3, and Jags were 10-6. I know who was better.
Coaching cost us those games. You make Bortles pass to beat you, which he cant and didn't. Stop the run, duh coaches. We all know who''s getting the ball.
Bortles is just on the list of clowns, like Glennon who the Steelers lost to not so long ago.
Thanks for your petty attempt at correcting me.Steelers 27

Well I didn't view/read all 43 pages, but I did ask a question for the Tomlin backers to clarify at what point do they lose faith in him.

Not winning a playoff game for 5+ seasons? That more than the average NFL player is in the league.
Having a losing record this year?
Third time asking and anyone the board who backs Tomlin. Can give an honest answer?Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

I was also referring to the Steelers losing to the Jags in 2017 by a score of 30-9. If I wanted to correct you more often, I'd get little work done. Now, can you tell me at what point this loyalty to Tomlin wears thin?

For me, if the Steelers continue their late season slides like the last couple it will signal time for a change. Right now, it is too hard to untangle the Fichtner/Roethlisberger effect. In the past, Tomlin's teams generally finished stronger than they started. That has slipped since 2018.
Colbert must have a very good draft. Players that can run block well are a need, and so are speedy skill players in the backfield. That and a lot of blind hope in Matt Canada.Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. The problem with Tomlin detractors is they not only want to move on from Tomlin but they want to invalidate every accomplishment over the course of his career and that is where you will find most people coming to his defense.Comment

A losing season? Wouldn’t that be his first? Doesn’t that answer the question why he has been extended?
You keep asking US why when its the ownership who likes Tomlin. Its obvious you aren’t familiar with the franchise because you would know the answer to your question.
You keep asking the same question while ignoring the answers because you are blinded by hate. You just don’t like the answers.. lol.Steelers 27

why the hell is SM so obsessed with Shula and the Phins. Shula is still considered the one of the best NFL coaches ever and he thinks this comparison makes Tomlin look bad? lmao.Steelers 27

We all know his strengths and limitations after all these years and overall he seems to be better than most coaches and able to get more out of players so I can see the Rooney’s being patient with him like they were with Cowher and maybe it pays off if he ends up with the right roster, players, coaches, and a little luck.
I do think it’s fair to give him a little more time after Ben and Colbert are finished.
Tomlin has been saddled with Ben for his entire career. There’s been good and bad, but for the last 10 years, some could argue we’ve been over investing in Ben relative to his playoff production and over investing in Ben has limited the quality of the rest of them team to a degree.
I have no idea how much sway Tomlin has vs Colbert, but I think he’s earned his right to build a roster without the influence of Colbert to give us a litmus test of has Colbert helped or hindered Tomlin in some ways? Give him a couple years post Colbert to see what Tomlin can build.
If you look at our drafts with Colbert/Cowher vs Colbert/Tomlin, there’s some big differences in approach. How much is Cowher vs Tomlin’s influence vs Colbert gaining more influence post Cowher with Colbert having more influence than Tomlin given his broader experience.
Given some of the Rooney comments I’ve seen, I don’t think this thinking is too far from the Rooney thinking. They want continuity post Ben and Colbert. I suspect they may believe Tomlin has earned some stripes to have more control over everything longer term to see how it turns out. I have no problem with this, but I expect Tomlin’s weaknesses will still drive me nuts. At least until we win another SuperBowl and Tomlin moves on in the future and we all over rate him finally.sigpicComment
