I couldn't care less about the Dolphins or Don Shula.

In my humble opinion (and I like the Dolphins of yesteryear) Don Shula had one of the greatest QBs of his generation and made the Super Bowl once with him and lost.
Help me find my post proving I am a Yinzer!

I will tip my hat to Tomlin if he has a winning record and the team makes the play-offs in the upcoming season.

personally, I don't believe a 3 year extension was warranted

I like Tomlin, but this kinda smells of being happy with the status quo a little too much

let's quit tripping over our nuts and win some playoff games before giving these long extensions, imo

          Perfect.
This gives tomlin 3 more years to continue to prove he won with cowhers players, continue to underachieve in the post season , have a couple years without a HoF qb and allows me to enjoy being right about him and the Rooney’s while laughing at his ‘fans’.
How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?

If I seem to remember they had serious defensive shortcomings but the offense was explosive.

Me either.. but why would you use them for an example if you didn’t care about them?

Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

I'm actually a little surprised by this.

I wanted to see Tomlin coach this season on a sort of "prove it" year before deciding on an extension. but like Ovi said, the Rooneys don't care about our opinions.

I have never seen a team refuse to fire a coach because of a contract extension. Just means they pay more to get rid of him if they were unhappy.

Tomlin hosted a Clinton fundraiser? Was it during a game? If not.. who cares

We lost a game in Chicago because of the anthem? lmao.. okay.

Once again we lose all these games because of Tomlin yet he has one of the highest winning percentages ever for a coach with 15 years in the league.

What people like you are really saying is Tomlin doesn’t win EVERY game so he sucks.
NO, I'm asking what has he done to deserve a 3 year extension? You have yet to reply.

Coaches should keep religion and politics out of the locker room. Tomlin did neither.

Just like a message board, will a conversation on Politics make us closer or not? You tell me if you can be honest about the topic.

Telling a grown man when to stand or not is his decision, not a coaches.

And yes, Ben said it was a distraction, if you remember the game.

Congrats to my favorite NFL coach! Tomlin is a fantastic leader and respected around the league. I've told anyone that will listen that (short of some kind of character meltdown) Coach T will be in Pittsburgh as long as he wants to be and I'm happy to see it!

If you’re talking about the Bears game then you’re wrong. The players met during the week to decide what they would do. Tomlin didn’t decide anything.

If I recall, the only thing Tomlin asked for was unanimity. Do whatever you do, but do it together as a team. That's why they had a team meeting to decide without the coaches.

Extending a coach who has had epic team collapses lately and is 3-7 in his last 10 playoff games? Why? You tell me. Can you? Still waiting....

Isn't winning playoff games with stacked rosters important to you?

Which head coach with this type of record is this tenured? Tomlin's super bowl ring with Bill Cowher's players was ages ago. 2009. It's now 2021 and counting.

And let's not act like not having a losing record in the AFC north means much. We play the Browns and Bengals twice ever year, they suck. So you should be 3-1 or 4-0, meaning you split then next 14 games and its pretty hard not to gave a winning record. Heck you can go 6-8 in the non in Browns and Bengals games and not have losing record. Easily.

Ahem, Tomlin asked for the vote for team unity. The vote was very close. He had not right to pressure anyone. You want to defy the coach, and risk getting in his dog house or cut?
