Dak has a losing record in the playoffs. Yeah, he's a top fantasy QB. No close to worth this contact.

I would roll Dalton or a draft a QB and use Dak's 40 + Million a year contract to re-build the defense in free agency In the long run, they would be better off. These choke the life out of their team, cap killing QB's who are maybe 10th-15th best in the NFL should not be the highest paid. Some teams or owners will never learn.
he’s actually 7-10 (unless you don’t count his last start) in his last 17 games but once again it’s convenient to use 17 instead of 20 because he won the first 3 games of 2019 and that would make his record look better.

Its always funny when people use random numbers to skew stats.

and 5 of those losses were by 4 points or less. I don’t think Dallas are world beaters but Dak gives them a shot to win and those other QB’s last year were terrible.

oh, just realize you meant elevate his team, yes.. I think he gives them a better chance to win than the red rocket or anyone else on their roster.

I saw a meme where they pointed out how Brady takes less and the other QB’s with max contracts wonder how he keeps winning SB’s.

but honestly, I would get my money. SB’s are cool but half the players on SB teams end up selling their rings after they retire and fall on hard times.

I don't watch the Cowboys much.

But QB contract decisions for even average (by results because the mean is above the median for most sports stats) guys seem to be: (1) make him the highest paid player in the league or (2) let him walk and try fishing for a new guy with a rookie contract.*

I think more teams will see what's behind door #2 as huge contracts like this continue to not yield results.

Although it's possible that the "result" that the team is looking for is more about selling season tickets (in normal years) than winning SBs. In which case, having a marquee QB to put on your programs is probably a good idea.

        * Note that this is the choice that the Cowboys actually face. Not a choice between Dak and the Red Rocket.

I think its #1. If a team has what they believe is a franchise QB they will pay him big money on that first contract. Its the next contract when I think teams start looking at door number 2.

and yes, its about selling tickets and building excitement. how many fans will show up or get excited about a placeholder or random rookie QB in later rounds?

I think that idea makes sense: try paying for contract #2 but not #3 if the QB can't carry the load required by such a high %age of the cap (approaching 20% in a couple of years this case...although maybe the cap shoots up).

I don't think it's the end of Zeke in Dallas for 2021. It's better to keep Zeke in 2021 than to cut him in regard to the cap hit the Cowboys would have to take. Zeke only counts 6.52% towards the cap in 2021. There are 5 other Cowboys that take up more of a % of the Cowboys cap than Zeke. Only 2 of those players (Olinemen) could be cut to save the Cowboys money in 2021.

Here is where I go the info.

No he does not elevate his team. How man of his wins in his last 17 game were via close margin? That would be nice to know. We know he's been on a losing streak lately with a large sample of game to look at. It is funny when people omit information. Look at both sides of the coin. Is he worth 40 million a year? NO, at least not to Dallas. Now they can't sign anyone. Long term this deal handcuffs the Dallas Cowboys, and does not bring them to glory. They must love Jerry Jones at the gambling tables, I'm telling ya!
Tomlin hasn't won a playoff game in seven years and counting. The earliest will be eight years. I guess that in Art Rooney's II, opinion is worth a 3 year extension.

Our 2024 draft looks to be grade A. Our 2023 draft is an A. The roster is talented, but Mike Tomlin is still the head coach.

*** Mike Tomlin is the best coach since the AFL- NFL merger that has not won a playoff game in 8 seasons or more. It's either him or Lewis. ***

I've never met any Steelers fans who compare Tomlin to Switzer. Probably because the comparison is laughable when looking at the facts.

who else goes for 2 after every TD to start the year?
do you think that was a great coaching move?

switzer at least led a big time college program for decades.

what did Mikey do before becoming steelers head coach.

they don't repeat themselves over and over and over again like you are doing today, not to mention calling Ben the kinds of names you call Tomlin.
