Still pissed about the bye week thing, and also facing our first MAJOR adversity with Bush...
But this team feels different ( hope so ) Even Tomlin looks and SOUNDS different...I listened to his presser today....Not near the silly ass sayings and cliches that get on my nerves...more to the point and serious!Comment

Yes Sir...Love where we're at, and love what we've down so far with what was put in front of us, but it's so early, not even half way...With 2 huge tests coming up...

Anyone who thinks that he should be fired after last year what he did with scrubs, should immediately stop being a Steelers fan and just root for every team that wins a SB. And be an official Bandwagon sack rider. Or admit it's for other reasons that you want him fired!!!
But yeah, with years of bad defense and a poor playoff record. Is it so far fetched to think some might be discontented?
I should also point out that despite my criticisms in the past - you've not seen any this year. Of course at 5-0 why should there be? But that's too simple. The coaching staff has been solid every week with both game plan, execution, etc. This certainly wasn't a slow start as in years past. This years team certainly isn't being crushed by penalties. These are also items we've seen over the years - but not THIS year.
I'm stoked about 5-0. I'm living in the now. I want the team to succeed. I want Tomlin to succeed. I want Lombardi #7 and I want an official Red Ryder, carbine action, two-hundred shot range model air rifle!
but right now I want to crush the Titans and her 6-0.2014 MNF EXEC CHAMPION!!!Comment

easy there. I have been very critical of tomlin in years past, largely because of the talent on the team yet a poor playoff performance over the last decade to show for it. Our defense is very good right now, but let's not forget after the GB Super Bowl it fell off a cliff for quite a long stretch. I also said last year that the circumstances played right into tomlins strengths and why (though I'm critical) he's a very good coach. he's excellent at player management, circling the wagons against adversity, motivation - he's a players coach. And he got everything that could be got out of last years team. It was a brilliant coaching job - and probably even worthy of COTY.

Did anything change for the anti Tomlin crowd? We haven't even reached the playoffs yet.
If you're going to call them out, at least wait until we win the SuperBowl and gloat all you want. That seems a little better than calling them out after we beat a team we always beat during the regular season.
I dunno about everyone else, but I appreciate the raw emotion of Steelers fans complaining when we mess up or lose. It's ok to feel emotions and just roll with the ups and downs of the season. But I also understand the flip side. Some folks need to control their emotions and rationalize their fandom in different ways to enjoy the team. To each his own.
When I spend time thinking about what really matters as a fan, it's not winning or losing. It's the anticipation and belief that your team can win that matters. And it's a question of how much hope can you personally handle? Some can just let their emotions go. Others have to protect their fragile emotions. It happens to all of us to some degree on both sides of the spectrum of the fan base.
Every fan is nuts to some degree. I say just let people enjoy the way they want to enjoy the games.sigpicComment

He sounded the same. You are a known Tomlin hater so of course he sounded differently to you. One thing about coaches is they rarely change how they respond and handle press conferences and the media. When the team losses a few games you will come here and claim he went back to the "old" sounding Tomlin. While you focus on Tomlin I will focus on the real reasons why the team loss the games. Games are generally won and loss on the field.Comment

1) Way better talent (specifically at QB, but we had lots of injuries everywhere and played what seemed like a lot of scrubs at skill positions last season);
2) Fitchner actually not being bad at OC / getting better; and
3) Adding Canada.
I think that 2 & 3 matter, but probably not as much as 1.
I heard a pretty interesting take on the Terrible Podcast (Alex I think). He was saying that Fitchner's biggest strength is that lack of ego and that he's willing to listen to ideas from other people (Ben in the past and now Canada too) and not turn away from them because they aren't his.
I think that's a really important trait for a leader to have.
I was against the Fitchner hire from the beginning because I think we should have kept Haley or get a replacement from the outside instead of just promoting a guy from the inside. But we did have a good redzone O in our last season with Ben, and we've looked pretty good on O as Ben gets more time.
Although I think one of the biggest things that make our O successful right now is Ben taking care of the football and making good decisions.
Will be interesting to see over the next two weeks. Particularly against the Rats. I really want us to win that first game against Baltimore (obviously).Comment

I think fichtner has been doing a good job from the start. But I also agree he appears to be a low ego guy.2014 MNF EXEC CHAMPION!!!Comment
