You wanted a certain team to win so saw it the way you wanted to...... blatantly.
Why would I care who won that game?

and it doesn’t matter if it was or wasn’t the correct call.

The point is other coaches who some folks on here think are geniuses and students of the game are challenging PI’s early just like Tomlin.

but that goes directly against his argument of not looking ahead and playing for the moment.

jeez man. its first and 20

take 1 play out of the 40+ you have to make 10 yards and you're in the same situation the following down.

losing you're first challenge that early in the game limits the opportunity to challenge another call. just as we saw last year vs. the same damn team

            ?

it was going to be a 1st and 20 with the penalty. the challenge, if successful, was going to make it 2nd and 10

Rams still lost. I wonder if fans will say he wasted a precious timeout and challenge early?

and in my opinion the WR pushed off blatantly twice.
what was the situation? I was only able to catch some of the game

              was it first qr?
was it a 1st and 20 coming and a gain of 10 yards and loss of down if successful?
did he challenge despite an obvious arm being out to keep the defender at bay like holton's arm was?
Is Mcvay as horrible as tomlin has been on challenges?. maybe he actually gets somem right and that fed into his decision

I doubt the situations are similar, but if they were, I'm guessing they most would complain if they aren't blindly standing up for their coach.

No it doesn't it is the same drive, which is the argument i have been making, a coach can only manage the drive that is currently happening. Never did I say he must challenge everything to keep a drive alive, he makes the decision to challenge or not based on the current drive, he doesnt base it off a hypothetical 4th quarter situation.

You have persuaded me. I get your point.
You are talking "risk/reward" and the potential "reward" in this case is pretty minor, therefore, not worth the risk of what we saw happen.
Given a different "benefit" to the call being overturned......it might be worth taking a shot.

                  It makes sense.

                    yes, thank You

had there been no penalty on the play, and he challenged a DPI on holton (had there been one) is much more logical.

in that scenario, we're gaining a 1st down and 30 yards down the field

He was challenging a no call on a pass completion where the WR pushed off twice.

I don’t think the history of McVeys challenges has any impact on this example.

The point is it was early in the game and he wasn’t worried about losing a timeout or wasting a challenge.

I don’t think I’ve ever been upset over a “wasted” timeout in the first half. It’s not like you can take it with you to the second half.

I could also see if this was before the rule change where turnovers and touchdowns are automatically reviewed.

I think that’s why so many people are shrugging at this.

It depends on the team. When a team is looking for their first win or struggling on offense announcers tend to respond differently than if it was a high powered offense.

I can’t believe people are still talking about this call that didn’t even end up hurting our team.

because when he does it again (2 years in a row now) and it does hurt the team, all you blind backers of him will then say, oh, it's just the first time this happened blah blah blah no big deal.

he's clearly hasn't learned anything from the mistake last year where he wasn't able to challenge the connor would be TD because it would have left him with none left for the game.
THATS EXACTLY WHY THE ANNOUNCERS SAID IT WASN'T CHALLENGED.

the team said the new coach hired will help him with these decisions.
why do you think want that? because he's good at them? lol

PS, I never brought up anything regarding losing a timeout in the first half

Because announcers said it it must be true?

                              Funny how that works.

Let’s say that is the actual truth and not just their opinion.

Maybe coaches are more liberal with the first challenge because they have 2?

I have seen more than a few coaches challenge things that weren’t game changers in the first half.

I don’t think your example of the game last year is a good one. I literally just watched the Rams not challenge a TD last game. They just punched it in on the next play.

Honestly, given the name of the thread I get it. Every decision that can be debated will be another bullet in the chamber for the reason Tomlin should be fired. Even when we win because it could end up in a loss next game.
