As with every case I can think of when SM references someone else's position in a previous post, this is a lie.
Maybe people remember this, but it's the first link in my sig. I put the links there so I don't have to look them up every time SM misrepresents (lies about) what I said or what he / she said on this particular topic. In that link, I also give a link to the other post that he / she is talking about as well as quoted text from that thread to show that I am not lying.
I did not say that the gold part of the quoted text was a lie. It has consistently been my position that coaching is important, but player talent is MORE important. Both items are necessary but not sufficient to win a SB.
The major thing I accused SM of lying about in that thread was that he / she said that I said:
"I sited (sic) how Sean Mcvay took the exact same players as Jeff Fisher had and made them a 12 game winner, he said that was just "Luck"."
As I show in the post linked in my sig, I never said it was "just luck". Instead, I said [some of it was added in green in the quote in the thread to show that I added it after the fact after we had more information]:
"My guess is that their improvement is mostly driven by luck, young players getting better due to more experience, and having a good QB on a rookie deal. [I think this must be the part Maniac is pointing to now saying that I think it was totally luck. In retrospect, I think I should have researched the roster changes myself and included coaching here as well. Note that I do talk about coaching in the next sentence.]
McVay is probably a good coach. But, I think don't think it's his coaching that will make the Rams as one of the best teams in the NFC over the medium term.
Instead, I think that their success will remain above average while Goff is on his rookie contract. "
It was also a lie in that post when he / she said:
"North_Blitz said in another thread that good coaching isn't important and having good players is all you need"
In that whole argument SM was also lying / ignorant of the facts when they said that McVay took the exact same team to the playoffs that Fisher missed the playoffs with. Ruthless pointed out that something like 50% of the roster changed.
But as often seems to be the case, SM shifts around the facts to make it seem like other people are the oppressor and he / she is the oppressed.
