Fire Mike Tomlin

I know that Captain Lemming and the rest of the TBW continue to spin things to fit the " Tomlin is great" narrative but as the assistant coaches have left recently, so has his winning.
1. Fitchner isn't as good as Haley was
2. As bad as some bashed LeBeau, Butler is worse
3. Mike Munchak left, and the O-line's stellar performance left with him.
And Tomlin doesn't have the power to hire or fire his own assistants. Colbert and Rooney do that. THAT's why he gets a free pass with them because they know behind the scenes, he doesn't call any shots on his assistants. So when the assistants are terrible, how can you rightly blame Tomlin? You can't. Tomlin is a figure head. You can't name one thing he does well. And he's not winning games anymore because the assistant coaches are crappy now.Comment

Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.
Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.
We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.
We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.Comment

Where do you get this from?
Rooney hires the head coach and the G.M. (plus the non-football administrative staff and such).
Colbert hires the scouts that work under him.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

And.. what ruthlinberger said about Conner was true. It was not make believe.
Just like ruthlinsberger said losing Munchak was no big deal.. he said that too. But this time, I’ve book marked it so if he denies it , I can prove it. But, I wouldn’t know if he denies anything because he’s been placed on permanent ignore.
Oh, .. the search field isn’t always as accurate as we’d like. But thanks for the info anyway.Comment

Cap, I don’t know about you, but I don’t have the time to go back through over two years worth of post to find Ruthlinsberger , dismissal of Conner being a good runningback . But he did say it and I wasn’t the only one to call him out on it after Conner made the pro bowl.
But if he ever tries to deny that he dismissed Munchak’s leaving as no big deal , I book marked it and I’ll send it to you in a PM.Comment

I'd say in no particular order these are the big factors in how you win in today's NFLQB is very important.
But if every QB I'm the league had the same skill (think all clones of Brady) then QB skill wouldn't differentiate teams at all. Since all teams have the same QB in this case, no team has a competitive advantage at that position.
If all coaches are about the same, then I don't think they matter as much.
I think talent is more varied roster to roster because scouting and signing good UFAs is generally hard and teams miss all the time. And there are so many more players than HCs. And players agree out faster than coaches do.
I think Mcvay made it to the SB because he had a cheap QB who played well. That let them spend a ton of money on D. I dint like guru coaches because I thunk they often make decisions to feed their ego instead of winning at all costs.
I think roster construction (ie talent relative to cap hit) is the most important thing in cap leagues. BB is basically the only GM / coach who's figured out his to be dominant with a franchise QB past his rookie deal. I thunk this is a combo of TB being skimming to play below market and ruthless cap management at other positions. He also a great coach who can be ridings with grange planning in a way I dint think other coaches are.
1. Franchise QB
2. Ability to put pressure on the QB (This is how the Giants beat the Pats in 2 SB's)
3. Coaching, coaching, coaching
4. Some luck (This also arguably played a part in the Giants beating the Pats in 2 SB's)
Your take that talent is more important than coaching is an interesting one but I can't agree in today's NFL. When you have two teams that are evenly matched or similarly matched what is the difference? Maybe it's just one player beating another player, this is how things work under Tomlin which at least partly explains 3 playoff wins in 8 seasons.Comment

I captured this because North said last year I was lying when I accused him of saying talent is more important then coaching. He’s saying it again right here.QB is very important.
