I bet you that we don't win another Super Bowl with Tomlin as our head coach.

If we do win a Super Bowl with Tomlin as head coach, then I disappear for a year.

You'd probably need to lay some pretty steep odds if you're taking the field and he's taking one team.

      And then what happened?

      He missed the playoffs.

        Maniac.

If you're interested in making a bet today, I think I have one we'd both agree on based on our previous statements.

In a previous post, I said that Tomlin had an 80% chance to still be the coach of the Steelers after next season.
In that same post, you said that Tomlin had an 80% chance to get fired after next season.

I think that means that we both think we'd be getting 4:1 odds betting opposite sides of whether Tomlin gets fired after next year.

I'd happily take the "Tomlin won't get fired after next season" side of the bet if you'll take "Tomlin will get fired after next season".

I'd be interested in the stakes you'd propose, but I'd take loser doesn't post on the board for a year. If the stakes are even, I think we'd both jump at the chance at this bet.

        What do you think?

i can imagine how this would turn out.
you would say tomlin stepped down and didnt actually get fired, so you dont lose the bet...........
steelers = 3 ring circus with tomlin being the head clown

The more and more I hear and read the more I’m starting to think Brown will be a Steeler next year. Unless DR is just posturing he wants a significant compensation for Brown. I don’t know if that will happen with how he’s been sabotaging.
            Trolls are people too.

not sure why you are throwing in 'so much better' tho, but anyways
well, the last 2 years they had the talent to go to the super bowl and probably the year after they won it and the year after the lost it.
You think they had the talent to go to the SB after they lost Shazier 2 years ago?

The NFL is more than who you have at QB, WR, and RB (despite what FF tells us). Our D was probably average to above average with Shazier. It was definitely below average after swapping him with a guy off the street.

Last year I think we did have the talent to go. We lined up will with the final 4 teams in two of the three phases. Unfortunately, kicking FGs also matters and we were almost worst in the league in that regard. Not a great look for a SB team.

As I've said before, I'm fine if they fire Tomlin. I think coaching isn't as important as execution. But, expecting everything to change for the better after firing one of the most successful coaches in the league is probably foolish.

If that's the reason for not taking the bet, I'd be happy to change the terms so it's not "fired" but "still coaching the Steelers" vs. "not still coaching the Steelers".

I'd be open to taking you up on the bet too if you're interested...unless you're just Maniac's burner account and you forgot to logout and login.

This would be the best outcome in my opinion (assuming we can have a semblance of burying the hatchet)

We won't get what AB is worth in a fire sale trade.

Even if we get something good, it will likely be in terms of draft picks that don't make a big impact in the near future while Ben is still here.

any team that goes 13-3 has a super bowl aspirations
any team that goes 11-5 and has the #2 seed has super bowl aspirations
any team that just went to/won a super bowl has aspirations to go the next year(barring major turnover)

Every team in the league has SB aspirations. But only 2 teams make it.

Making big decisions based on small sample sizes is not a recipe for success.

The Rooney's seems to understand this.

                          Fair enough.

I agree that it is a very silly thing to do.

                              once again, spin job
if every team in the league went 13-3 and 11-5 and had the #2 seed than they would have a legit aspiration to go to a super bowl
wanting to go and having the talent to go are two different things
you cant tell me that the steelers failing to make it past the wildcard game is the same as the browns not making it there last year.............are you?
are the steelers predicted to be in the top 5 teams for winning the super bowl almost every year?
are the browns, raiders, jets, etc etc etc?
there is a reason that they are put there. its because they have the organization, coaching, and talent, schedule to do so. so when they dont make it, there is a much higher level of underachieving compared to the other team not in a situation to do so.
although there are 32 teams in the league, how many really have a chance to win the super bowl.......6,7,8?
