This is a interesting argument. Cowher had many HOF great players on BOTH sides of the ball. QB, WR, RB, OLB, SAFETY ( the best ever?)
      D-Line was really good.
Tomlin has built a really good Offense. Defense was a total rebuild. Some hits and major misses. But the major problem is a massive character issue from Cowhers players to Tomlins. And yes some of that is on the HC and FO. And my post is missing squids quote. Crap ole well.

Ben won't come back after the lock out in 2021. Why would he after a year off. Tomlin should also ride off. Time to reset in 2022.

Hell of a point Laser; I totally forgot about the pending lock out. Yeah, it will be over for Ben after the 2020 season.

Hey I got it to quote! I think I seen it posted here or maybe Depot? It has been mentioned because of Ben's pending contract extension. And I have seen posts stating contracts are being structured for that possible (99% chance) lockout.

we all should know a HOF qb is the most important player to have. cowher had it for the first couple years, tomlin has had it the whole time(in his prime)
i would imagine a teams overall record is better with a HOF qb compared to having a HOF other position player
steelers = 3 ring circus with tomlin being the head clown

And Tomlin and Ben have a record that's comparable to other Hof QBs.

It's just that Brady and the Hoodie have screwed up people's idea of what reasonable expectations are.

Ben is a great player. And Tomlin has been a good to great coach. But they're Carl Malone to Brady's Michael Jordan.

Changing the coach isn't going to change that. And I wouldn't be surprised if Brady end up playing longer than Ben so I don't even think we can outlast them.

see i disagree. i think with a good/great coach and ben we could be closer to the pats situation.
it would be different if it was the pats knocking us out of the playoffs but it really hasnt been.

Can't say it any better then that. Can add dynasty HC/QB and just a possible SB HC/QB.
I still think defense wins championships and aids that HOF QB. As it stands in today's NFL a great defense alone will not get you to the dance or win it like has been done in the past. Now a team needs a almost HOF caliber QB and a very good defense. I believe in needing balance also. Pats defense had a great first half to set up the HOF QB to win the game. And the other defense got crushed in overtime.
Game over another trip for the dynasty cheaters.

So what is your opinion of Sean Payton?

Lots of people are saying we should have an O or D guru at HC.

                        Agree strongly.

The best combo seems to be franchise QB + good D.

Our "problem" was that we hit lots of homeruns on our picks on O, and not much on D.

And then our one clear great pick on D had a catastrophic injury.

Well, we’ve got a year to think about it. I’m hoping for a head coach that a real defensive background.

Because they didn't address it the way you wanted them to, doesn't mean they didn't address it.

Thank you. And everyone forgets they tried to get Hightower. He would of course been better then Bostic or Fort but not Shazier.
Draft and rookies are nothing but a gamble.
See Artie and Bud. Then Watt.
