You make a good point. I think Ray Rice was well above average when he was in his prime, though. That guy always seems to squirt through for a 3 or 4 yard gain...even when there was nothing doing...By "kaepernick" do you mean that teams recognized that he is a middle of the pack talent who doesn't bring enough to the table to be worth the drama and distraction that he causes?
If Colin K was a top tier QB then he would be playing football on Sundays. No question. Just like Ray Rice would be. Not saying that the two things are equal, but saying that professional organizations are willing to look the other way if the player is that much of a difference maker. Kaepernick is not.Comment

I got 7, although it feels a little redundant...
The owners didn't kaepernick" Kaepernick. Kaepernick kaepernicking Kaepernick "kapernicked" Kaepernick.
Anyone for 8?sigpicComment

I was interested, so I went and looked for a link.

Based on all the data they show here, I'd still much rather be a white man facing an armed cop than a black man - especially if I'm unarmed.
We got our "6-PACK" - time to work on a CASE!

Agree. If Rice had beaten the crap out of his fiancee 5 years earlier, his career would have continued.
Similar situation happened in Toronto/Houston with baseball. Jays closer Roberto Osuna was arrested and charged with domestic battery - i.e. beating up his girlfriend. Not much ever came public in terms of details, but charged and suspended for 75 games, with a pending trial.
The team and player accepted the suspension without appeal. Not the actions (you would think) of an innocent man.
Just before his suspension was up, he was rehabbing in the minors and traded to the Astros. Not enough value coming back in terms of players, but the team rid itself of a player who they said would never suit up for them again. When the time came for the trial, Osuna's accuser, the mother of his child, would not return to Toronto from Mexico and the charges were withdrawn.
Why is Roberto Osuna employed in the majors today? He is 23 years old, has 116 career saves, a 0.92 career WHIP, and throws the ball 97 MPH. If Osuna was a middle of the road guy then the game would turn its back on him in a show of moral superiority because "this type of behavior can't be tolerated". As it is, they somehow find a way to overlook his "transgression" and find a spot for him because "everybody deserves a fresh start".Comment

Decision day arrives for Le’Veon Bell
Posted by Mike Florio on November 13, 2018, 10:12 AM EST
It’s here. Finally. And some would say thankfully.
The Tuesday after Week 10. The last day for running back Le'Veon Bell to join the Steelers in 2018. The NFL’s ultimate expletive-deleted-or-off-the-pot moment.
So what will he do? The smart money continues to be that he won’t, because the money he stands to make over the rest of the year ($6 million) doesn’t justify the potential impact of a serious injury on the money Bell will make as a free agent.
Yes, Bell will be a free agent in March. The Steelers can’t franchise-tag Bell again without giving him quarterback money, and the transition tag would be a meaningless exercise in delaying the inevitable (and, if anything, driving his price higher to guarantee that the Steelers wouldn’t match the offer). This means that he will get paid. A lot.
Every year, good players in their prime get great money in free agency. What do great players in their prime get in free agency? We don’t know because it never happens.
For Bell, the end result will be much more than the Steelers ever would have paid, and more than enough to justify the year away from the sport.
That said, nothing prevents Bell from deciding that he wants to play, injury risk be damned. But he has resisted the temptation to play for this long. Given his proximity to a generations-altering payday, Bell should continue to sit and wait.
There’s one final caveat for Bell to consider. Collusion happens in the NFL. It just does. And it wouldn’t be a shock to see the offers come in much lower than anticipated in order to not reward a player for staying away, since that would encourage others to do the same.
Still, at this point, Bell’s best play is to keep himself healthy for 2019, and to have his agent work multiple teams in order to get the biggest possible compensation package.
https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/11/13/decision-day-arrives-for-leveon-bell/Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.
Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.
We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.
We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.Comment

Recapping: Bell wants gobs of money. In a perfect world, he'd like to have a clipboard and get 0 carries to avoid injury.
Remind me, why would anyone want to sign him?
As soon as he gets signed (assuming he doesn't get suspended again), he's going to try and protect his health by minimizing carries/touches so he can get another big contract. At this rate, maybe he can stay out of the league until he's 65 and then sign a $100m/yr contract because he'll have all this tread left on his tires from not taking hits for the previous 40 yrs. Brilliant strategy!!!!sigpicComment
