Did Bell or his agent ever say exactly what he wanted guaranteed?

Clearly, the guaranteed money was the sticking point.

I think it was rumored that he wanted the first 3 years guaranteed at approximately 15 mil / year.

Signing Bell to a huge contact with 45-50 million guaranteed would have been dumber.

Bell turning down the contract was dumbest.
      Money post dude.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

      TCFCLTC-
The Coach Formerly Considered Less Than Cowher

        .

        I think I'd flip 1 and 3.

Dumb: Bell turning down the contract

Dumber: Signing Bell to a huge contact with 45-50 million guaranteed would have been dumber.

        Dumbest: Rescinding Bell's franchise tag

I think that Bell's lifetime earnings will be more than if he signed the first long term deal and that he's got a reasonable shot at earning more than if he signed the second offer (although I think that's a harder goal).

I think the Steelers giving the offer would have messed up the internal cap and I think it's better to spend the money on D when you have a franchise QB.

There is no logical defense for rescinding the tag.

Which isn't that outrageous considering Barkley just signed a four year deal fully guaranteed for 31 million. If Barkley can get 31 million guaranteed before taking a snap you would think Bell could get 45 million guaranteed. Instead Bell gets offered 10 million guaranteed, not a chance he was going to sign that deal, there will be too many teams next year with money willing to guarantee more than 10.

Why not? If we are talking about guaranteed money, it has everything to do with the reason Bell will test free agency as opposed to signing for only 10 million guaranteed.

Barkley was gonna make that guaranteed $$ regardless of the position he played that's why

it's all about where he was picked

I agree that the 10 mil guaranteed offer was weak. They knew he wouldn't accept that.

However, last year they offered him 30 mil over the first 2 years I thought most of that was rumored to be guaranteed.

True..... timing is everything. This all goes back to the fact he should have taken last year’s deal.

Gurley just got 45 million guaranteed, that pretty much sets the floor for the contract that Bell will get in free agency.

Four years, $60 million, $45 million guaranteed...imma need 15 a year and they know this.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Looks like Bell understands the RB market pretty well.

Bell will get a similar deal as soon as he enters free agency...

Barkley is 5 years younger than Bell.
Not to mention he doesn't have a problem with substance abuse nor a serious injury history.

Once again, you can't compare because Gurley doesn't have a substance abuse problem, serious injury history and is 3 years younger.
