Most people are fans of a team, not a player. I don't give 2 craps about Bell, his best interest, his crap music or how he is slave to the NFL owners, etc etc etc.
I'm have the right to look out for my interests and one of my interests is having the Steelers win super bowls. If I think a player is conducting himself in a matter that hampers this, then I can 'criminalize' him. I would be right to do that.
I agree. The name on the front of the jersey is more important than the one on the back

I think some have lost this view in the era of Fantasy football where people have to root for players not teams to be successful

Haha.. what? This has nothing to do with fantasy.

Star players exist because people outside of their fan base are also fans of their game.

I’ve always enjoyed watching great players like Barry Sanders, Ronny Lott, Ed Reed, Randy Moss, etc...

Some fans have their favorite team and also are fans of players who are the best of the best at their craft.

That's not what we are talking about.
I too like certain players because of who they are on and off the field.
You are defending a player that selfishly sabotaged his team and fans. The same team that you say is your favorite.
How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?

The irony on your post is hilarious.

Of all the people on here to talk about “team” you are the last one who should be having this discussion.

You often disagree with the FO for retaining Tomlin.

I disagreed with the FO giving Bell an unrestricted tag 2 years in a row.

Should’ve let him test the market.

Omg grow up, it was an nfl contract hold out, if you want to be mad about it fine, but let the rest of us not care in peace.

Bell never signed his tender so technically he wasn’t even on our team.

Bell didn't hamper or sabotage the team. The team moved on without him as if he had an injury and couldn't play.

I am not a selfish fan. I understand that players are people. Once business gets handled on both sides then everything will take care of itself.

Throughout the 2019 season, NFL Network analysts will provide one bold prediction heading into each weekend's games. Here are their thoughts on Week 16:

                      Maurice Jones-Drew
                      Writer | NFL.com

Le'Veon Bell shows out in revenge game

This is the matchup we've been waiting for all season! Le'Veon Bell will face his former team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, on Sunday. While with the Steelers from 2013 to '17, Bell led the league with 129 scrimmage yards per game (min. 30 games), but in his first season with the Jets, he's averaging 83.1 scrimmage yards per game. In fact, he has yet to register 100 rushing yards in a game -- but he'll put that streak to an end on Sunday. Bell goes off against his former squad for his best game of the season by racking up at least 130 rush yards and two touchdowns.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

                          Really?
So his team mates called him out for no reason.
He didn't affect the locker room in a negative way.
I guess all that drama was made up.

It wasn't a big deal. Now put yourself in the thought process and position of those players. Would your life be over if someone doesn't show up for work over a salary/contact issue? Would life go on after you answered a few reporters questions about Bell? Answering a few questions was essentially what it was.

Those players made themselves look like fools by putting another man's business out there.

Maybe you would sit there and cry about it and let Bell affect your day and play? Hahaha.

Speaking for myself I wouldn't let any player that doesn't show up for work affect my ability to play and earn money.

Man Players needed to perform regardless. After reflection they understood Bell's stance because they all were or will all be up for contract extensions at some point. People love to make mountains out of mole hills in today's society.

I'm not quite sure any of those players says their life was over, but the way you are talking, maybe you got the inside scoop from them.
Bell put his own business out there, over and over and over. He made himself the fool.
I wouldn't cry, just like the players didn't cry. I would probably do the same thing they did if I was lied to and felt betrayed.
They may be up for contract at some point but let's see how many take the Bell route, seeing they all understand that's lying to team mates, calling others out, rapping derogatory stuff, smoking weed and hanging with fat hookers is just doing businesses.
