In a cap league, the question isn't: Is a player good / bad?

It's: Do they deliver more value than their contract?

It seems clear that Bell will always be overpaid on his current deal.

First year with a new coaching staff and a new zone blocking scheme with an OL that had zero chemistry.

I said it’s hard to declare one team as having the worst OL BUT the Jets still have one of the worst OL’s in the NFL.

Not sure how you can come to the conclusion that since it isn’t the worst that you can’t blame some of Bells struggles on the OL.

There is blame everywhere but there is also just common sense and reality.

You don’t just become good overnight when you have a new staff and a bunch of new players playing together their first year.

I agree that we are having 2 conversations...
in terms of why i mentioned the situation with the backup... well.. usually the backups arent as good as the starters... meaning.. perhaps their record would have been better than 5-9... had Darnold been there for those games he missed.

Im sure part of the reason Bell is struggling is because the JETS OL is not as good as our OL was when Bell was here.. I think there are other reasons for Bell's decline...and, as others have mentioned.. the arguement has been made that the "Decline" started before he left.

The Fitzmagic trade was awesome but it’s RARE to get a guy like that on a rookie contract. Colbert has shopped before, we just bought the wrong products on defense.

I’m not knocking what this D has accomplished this year but you can’t cherry pick it and suggest we would’ve had more success without some of our best players on offense.

We made it to an AFCCG with our expensive offense.

I’m not so sure we make a deep run with this D and this offense.

We are not necessarily better than that team. I expect one and done to be frank.
As excited as we are with duck, he is a low tier QB by playoff QB standards.

This defense and that AFCC team version of Ben my friend. Recall Brown was shut down and our garbage secondary made a scrub look like Jerry Rice.

Elite secondary players in plus elite QB...that is the best formula for success in today's NFL.

This is an aside, but do you think we should extend Juju? I'm starting to get conflicted about this decision.

I like getting guys on 2nd contracts because I think you can still get them under market. But if I had to choose between Juju and this D, I'd take the D.

I'd choose D but you gotta factor that Jujus "value" might be pretty low. He can be extended for what may look like a steal in a few years. I'd factor in our thoughts on the 2 young guys.
