Next season, do you think Bell will do: (a) better, (b) the same, or (c) worse? I think the same at best. He was declining in his last year with us (hidden by so many touches). And I don't think a year away from football did him any favors (on the field anyway). Maybe he improves a bit running (because he's been pretty bad running the ball), but he'll probably still be good receiving and pass protecting. But, I don't think he'll ever deliver value for his contract. This isn't limited to Bell, I think it's true of the majority of big name UFA signings (particularly those that switch teams).
He’s definitely underperforming this year. However I think given his contract he isn’t getting the touches you would usually see with a guy making that much. He should be utilized much more in the passing game.

Next year? he will definitely improve.

Bell logic: “I wouldn’t be the lowest ranked yards-per-rush starting running back in the NFL, if you’d just give me the ball more!”

He was supposed to be an instant game changer for any team that acquired him.. a once in a generation... elite talent.

He is a game changer he just doesnt have the support. You are setting up an impossible standard for skill position players. If they cant single handedly propel their team to greatness then they dont deserve to get paid. That is just crazy, Bell isnt getting paid an outrageous contract nor is he getting paid a contract that would suggest he should excel even though his touches are cut back, his qb is young, his o line is terrible, and his coaching staff is new. If the standard for getting a contract is you have to carry the team then you might as well not pay anyone because football is the ultimate team game.

People are still bitter at the way he left.

I never said Bell could do it al by himself and obviously when you go to a bad team you aren’t going to put up the same numbers...

but will the team get better? Will he contribute to their success? I think he will continue to get better if the OC runs the offense through him.

It’s hilarious how everyone thinks it’s over after 12 games on his first year as a Jet.

bell isn't a game changer. what a ludicrous statement. lol

as many here said, bell was a product of the system and players the steelers had in place when he arrived. he coukd not have been dropped from heaven into a better situation for him to flourish. that is all being proven true, but his fanboys just can't admit it. it's sad and kind of pathetic at this point, but par for the course. some people just can't admit they were wrong as if their internet credibility is somehow important.

Odell is having a down year in Cleveland. I guess he isn’t a game changer as well.

I said over the way he left..

There is a reason people are still filling him and updating his every move.

It’s definitely not because they like him.

Technically, what you are referring to was not a “strawman.” It was a false equivalence/analogy used as a deflection.

Wrong about what? Bell was one of the top backs in the league posting crazy numbers, he was also a beast in college, but now after 12 games in a bad situation he is done? The guy didnt forget how to play, he hasnt fallen off physically, he is just in a bad offense that cant block. You dont have to be a fanboy to see the jets oline is bad, your blind hate for the guy is keeping you from admitting it.

How is it possible to have the best owner, best front office, best gm, best HC, good/great drafts every year and good FA acquisitions every year, but only have 3 playoff wins in 14 years?

Like i said earlier. You need to add 13 yards a game to make up for the fewer carries he's getting.
