Yep. Means Bell is gone and we likely get nothing in return (assuming we sign someone in FA).

Should get a 3rd imo...Bell is a high dillar FA...Only way this wouldn't happen is if we sign 1 or 2 high prced FA's...That's not the Steeler Way

I think we'll end up having a fairly large UFA signing this year. I think that would reduce or eliminate any comp pick from Bell.

Nope. If we sign anyone of much stature in FA, it will cancel out any comp pick we would get.

Agreed. The fact that they didn't transition tag Bell tells you the Steelers are getting ready to make a substantial FA signing (or two).

Good news is that this means we won't needlessly tie up cap space at the beginning of the UFA period. Hopefully that means we can bring in an impact defensive player.

I’m good with that. They have some money to spend in FA for a change.

Steelers expected to be shut out of compensatory picks in 2019
Every year the NFL hands out compensatory draft picks to teams who lose more than they gain in free agency from the season before. It is limited to 32 picks total and can vary from a third-round pick to a seventh-round pick, depending on the value of the free agent…

I didn’t think we would receive any this year. Any Bell comp pick would be in the 2020 draft.

My wish this offseason is simple. Extend some vets to free up more cash, plug defensive holes through FA and get offense through the draft. I’m ready to move on from the drama and get ready for the upcoming season.

But what do we know about Tomlin's handling of players (this team) overall going forward? Tomlin needs to change the environment; An environment of professionalism & consequences must be established if we are going to be (do) anything significant in the near future.

According to the New York Daily News' Manish Mehta, "word on the street" is Le'Veon Bell ballooned to 260 pounds during his year away from football.
Bell's listed playing weight is 225. Bell had some body composition issues as a rookie but totally morphed himself ahead of Year 2 and has had no conditioning worries ever since. However, taking a year away from the game, partying in Miami, and not having to practice likely didn't do him any good. Odds are Bell has slimmed back down by now as he looks for a monster payday in free agency, but he's got some buyer beware marks against him. Bell is said to be looking for $48 million over the first three years of any contract he signs this offseason.
