steelz... i respectfully disagree.. with respect to the contract that bell would have carried with him for the next 3 or so years.. and how that would have impacted our ability to retain our young talent such as TJ Watt, JJSS, Hargrave, Hilton, Conner ,etc etc... Ben's monster contract is going to really hurt us on that end... and Bell's added to that would have gutted us

Ive watched Bell play some this year... He only shows flashes of the player he used to be. I think the year off has hurt him thus far. Sure, we can blame everyone else for his lackluster performance (Darnold, playcalling, OLine etc etc). But the Jets got hosed on the Bell deal and im glad hes out of Pitt

Theres a hell of a difference between "Fine" and "Elite".. as some of you guys have termed Bell as in the last year or so... I think we can make the case that hes a product of the system (ours vs the Jets) as much as anything. Elite backs have been known to carry teams on their backs ie Barry Sanders with a disaster of a Lions organization. I think we are finding now that Bell is no Barry Sanders (which was truly Elite).

Exactly... which is what I told Feltdizz ( oh wow) but he vehemently disagreed. And said Bell’s talent would transcend and would make him good in New York. You see how that has turned out.

I'm sure a lot of Bell's struggles are due to the fact that he doesn't have a great QB/offense around him, and not the best coaching ... but doesn't that just highlight how ridiculous it was for him to demand the kind of money he wanted? He wanted to be paid like a guy who could carry a team, but he's done nothing in New York to show he's that kind of a player. Yes, in a good system, he's very good, but he can't lift a bad offense. Consequently, he deserves nothing close to the $20 million or $17 million or whatever it was he was talking about.
