Tomlin’s hot seat is not based on “one game” . This “one game” was just another straw on the camels back of a decade of him not getting it done and underachieving.
You insult people like they haven’t watched his post season, underachieving ways for over 5 years now. Your talking down to people like their dumb. That never plays out well for guys that do that.
I so wish you could appreciate the irony...
Again, "ballwashers"...before you accuse me, take a look at yourself, first...
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.
Most of us would agree that Tomlin is not on the hot seat. The fact that we are having this discussion right now....
Well, like you said, it's "Debatable". I personally think they took a step in the right direction by letting Haley walk. As for keeping the Defensive staff intact... well, that's yet to be seen. I do know our last 2 playoff losses were beyond horrible on the defensive side of the ball. The nice thing is... they took steps to address last year's perceived deficiencies (Zone defense and weak secondary). Now if we can take steps to sure up the linebacker corp, as well as cleaning up the distractions in the locker room... we should be in contention in the AFC again next year.
Then Tomlin is setting himself up to be fired; the offensive issues could have been tweaked with Tomlin having a private one on one with Haley.
But the defense is wrong from the scheme on up; Butler should be let go.
But again, Tomlin doesn’t really have the power to hire or fire his staff. Colbert makes that decision. If I were Tomlin, I’d be kicking and screaming for Colbert to make Butler walk the plank.

Well, that's one way of looking at it...
I think the problems on offense and defense are precisely the opposite of each other:
A coordinator is supposed to put players in position to succeed and position coaches are supposed to help players maximize their talent by teaching proper technique.
Butler put players in position to succeed. Cam Heyward, and Vince Williams had career best years...Mike Hilton came out of nowhere and became a top flight nickel CB. I think Butler did fine...his defense improved from last season, despite the injuries.
But, the position coaches (specifically Porter and Lake, IMO) need to do a better job of teaching technique and maximizing talent.
The offense has fantastic, well coached individual performers. But, they weren't always put in a position to succeed. 4th and 1 and you call a toss sweep...not in position to be successful.
Supposedly, the defensive coaches are safe...we'll see...I'm holding off until it's official...

Seems pretty clear the power Tomlin has:
I have made the decision to not renew the contract for offensive coordinator Todd Haley. I would like to thank Todd for his contributions to our offense the past six years, and we wish him the best in his coaching future.

Yep. Enough of this notion that Tomlin doesn't make the decision on hiring/firing his coordinators.

The reason Tomlin didn't fire Butler is because it's Tomlin's defense that Butler is running. Mike wasn't as involved with the offense, but this defense was his baby; his fingerprints are all over the defensive scheme/planning they've had since LeBeau "retired" from the Steelers.

I like that Tomlin seems like he’s standing by Butler and it seems like this is indeed the defense that HE wants. That way there’s no one to deflect the light away from Tomlin if the defense fails in the playoffs again .
If Tomlin doesn’t make a couple of free agent moves, he will not find enough in one draft to make enough difference. So I’m curious to see how desperate Tomlin is to save his job. Can he convince Colbert to add a serious free agent or two? We’ll see. Because the defense needs playmakers bad.
What does basically putting it all on Haley have to do with Bell mouthing off about next year’s contract or Mitchell mouthing off? Why can’t Tomlin control his guys? Who’s fault is that Mike?
Why is it that any time someone suggests replacing Tomlin, that the quick response is "and what genius HC are you going to replace him with?" That would suggest a genius is needed to replace Tomlin. I understand he's not going anywhere, but in no way is Tomlin a coaching genius. I think the team has won games in spite of his coaching abilities. With the talent on this team I don't think a genius is needed to make them serious SB contenders, something I never really feel they are with Tomlin.

Didn't he come in and say he wanted to do a 43 to begin with but wouldn't change anything the legend LeBeau was doing or something like that... I wouldn't necessarily agree that it's his baby...

yeah, it was obvious when DL was here Tomlin wasn't going to change his scheme.

nope. The response is "what HC would you replace him with"
doesn't have to be a genius just someone who is as good or better than Tomlin.
