    I’m not excited...

And, if you read the piece, it was about the passes he completed...it wasn’t as if the receivers were running free and the throws were easy...

I’ll take Tyrod Taylor as an upgrade option over Jones.

Okay... 1) KC is not some known for tropical warm weather. The cold there is frightening 2) He's a veteran that with an upgrade to all of his supporting cast except maybe at TE a la Bell, Brown, Juju and Bryant, he can be not only serviceable but downright dangerous until we draft our true franchise QB. 3) Having a QB that we can win with now will help keep the band (OL, skill positions) together. 4) 4,000+ yards 26 tds and 5 pics is pretty good production for 33 year old vet.

I am not saying he's the answer but I think the Steelers have a greater chance at him than Keenum, who is the only other FA I think at QB that could fill Ben's shoes if Ben decided to hang them up at season's end.

What veteran wouldn't want to play with this supporting cast and for this organization. Other than the cheats* who else in the AFC have been consistently in the hunt to hoist a Lombardi. I think he would take a less lucrative deal if he knew there would be a chance at a championship ring at the end of the contract negotiations.

You say tomato, he says tomahto... Both stink. But I'd take Taylor too--as a backup. If I was thinking for a starter? ...I think I'd field 10 players.

Yeah, I don’t understand that logic. Tyrod is terrible. He doesn’t throw interceptions but that’s because he doesn’t throw the ball that much. Half of his pass plays end up being scrambled for 3 yards or so.

                  Hell no!!!

Watching Taylor yesterday brought back the memories of Kordell. Never hitting a receiver in stride, missing wide open receivers on the deep ball and mostly not knowing where to throw the ball.

Landry has grown by leaps and bounds during his time with the Steelers. I'm not saying he's the next coming but he's okay. Maybe as good as half the QBs in the league. He is much better than Tyrod Taylor!!
As many on this site think ... The Rooney's suck, Colbert sucks, Tomlin sucks, the coaches suck, and the players suck.

                  but Go Steelers!!!

                    NO... just no.

You know I'm a bit of a homer, but, give fair assessments of Louisville players. Accurately labeled late-rounder Will Gay as "the next Deshea" and "will be in the league for a decade".

Lamar is probably the next Mike Vick... Struggles with accuracy and touch. Has thrown too many lasers on passes in the flat, and just short passes in general. He will test phenomenally due to pure athleticism. Unfortunately, Petrino hasn't taught him how to read defenses and we don't know if he has that capacity. Every play is a "check with me" where he looks to the sideline to determine which of 2 set plays to run.

Unless the plan is to make him "slash", but, put him on the field at WR, I have no interest in him on the Steelers in ANY round (and that's rare for me to say about a Louisville player). Let him go somewhere else and be a coach killer (like Vick was).

Fair enough. I do trust your opinion on UL players. With that said, I am friends with another knowledgeable UL fan who has a different take. I understand your reservations. He is raw in the passing game. But, we are talking about late 1...and what will be available to the Steelers there? I believe he has all the physical tools, but I do have some reservations about the mental/recognition part of his game. I will say though last season I watched him improve through his progressions. He actually did it better than Dobbs. If I'm the Steelers I take a hard look at him. Put him through some of mental/recognition testing and see if there is something to work with there. Because IMO, he has more physical tools than anyone in this draft.

Don't take my word on it...here is the opinion of NFL scouts.

"[Jackson] has huge talent and supreme toughness. His biggest issue is being consistent with his footwork because he's so physically gifted and he'll get away with a lot of stuff that bites him at other times. He has real arm talent. He's way more polished than Michael Vick coming out. Everybody's up in arms about his games against Houston and LSU without mentioning he had arguably the worst offensive line of any power-five school. Houston just exposed it as they were the first team to beat up on that [offensive] line. Versus LSU, Lamar was making Houdini escapes just to get back to the line of scrimmage. He had no chance in either game. His supporting cast was very average with just two NFL-caliber players in Jamari Staples and Cole Hikutini. Jackson can see the field and work through progressions. Watching him his freshman year to his sophomore season, his improvements from year to year were huge. Bobby Petrino is a very talented offensive mind, and Jackson had near-complete command of [Petrino's] system back in October, and that says a lot. [Jackson's Florida State] game was the most individually dominant performance of the season because that defense has multiple NFL players, including at least one first-rounder on every level, and [Jackson] looked like he was playing at a different speed than them.

[Jackson's] upside is scary. His flaws are correctable compared to what he was his first year as he's already made a substantial jump. No reason to believe he won't make bigger leaps. His athleticism and speed are different-level-type stuff. I did Cam Newton coming out and know Mike Vick well; [Jackson] is more advanced in the passing game than either of them when they came out. [Jackson] will be fine sitting in the pocket and getting hit on the chin. It's the reason his toughness is seen already as arguably his best quality, because he forces himself to stay in there wanting to show he's a true quarterback.

I dont really think hes more polished as a passer than $scam and "standing in the pocket and getting hit on the chin" is much easier for 6-5 250 than it is for 6-2 210 (210 might even be a bit of a stretch)

whoa, whoa, whoa.. Vick was a coach killer because he refused to watch film and put in the work needed to be a well rounded NFL QB. He even admitted he was lazy in ATL.

There was a lot more I could have done off the field and in the film room that could have elevated my game to a different level," Vick said. "I was complacent at the time, somewhat lazy, and I settled for mediocrity. I thought what I was doing was enough."
"Just imagine what I could have been doing if I really would have been applying myself. That's a regret I have."

I think it's unfair to label Jackson a coach killer unless he has the same issues. I don't think that's the case with Lamar Jackson. I also don't have an issue with college QB's looking to the sidelines for plays. NFL QB's have headsets in their helmet and all their plays on their arm? Even now we see a lot of NFL QB's looking at the sidelines for a play.

to wrap things up, just because Lamar is a "Black QB" doesn't mean he is a Vick, Cam or Kordell. Dude could be a Russell Wilson for all we know.

not sure why folks bash Cam so much. Dude was a legit passer in college. 30 TD's, 7 INT's and almost 3,000 yards at Auburn. Plus he wasn't throwing ducks, he was throwing lasers downfield. His arm is insane.. his footwork sucks tho but that's because his arm is so strong. He is like Big Ben.

Watching the Saints playoff game fans in Charlotte were bashing Cam and I don't know why. Dude was throwing insane passes and WR's dropped TD's but of course.. it was all his fault.
