Pats sign Harrison

Hi All,
I introduced myself in another thread but I’m a long time Steeler fan. Born and raised in Pgh. I have been a huge James Harrison fan since 04 when he hurdles that guy in the Chargers game. He’s been one of my favorite players ever.
I say this as a preface to my comments because what I’m about to say pains me and I don’t want anyone to think I’m here to troll. Please allow me to vent because I’m hurt and upset by all of this.
With that said, James is a legend, a great LB and an unforgettable player, but he is also a selfish, lying snake.
In regard to his playing time, there are articles out there from August where Joey Porter talked to the media about him being a relief pitcher and that he would not be sharing snaps withTJ and Bud like he did with Jarvis. Instead, he would come in only when needed. In that article he said he was ok with it. Harrison himself is quoted as saying he was ok with that role. So how could they have lied to him? How was he unaware of his role?
Obviously he was not okay with it but instead of asking to be released in August, he waited until week 1 to ask for release. That’s relevant because that means his salary was guaranteed for this season. We had just paid him a signing bonus as well!
It is completely unreasonable for him to ask for a release knowing we would be on the hook for his salary by that point. We had invested 2 million in him. Were we supposed to pay him to play for another team? He knew what he was doing by waiting.
Not only that, but camp was over and finding a new body off the street to learn the defense during the regular season is a ridiculous notion when we had signed and paid him to do so.
In regard to Shazier- I have a problem with his I went to see him separately. The relationship between him and the other backers must have been fractured and he couldn’t put his petty differences aside to show solidarity as a unit?
What’s worse is that If the reports are accurate and he left Cincy in a rental car when he found out he was inactive for the game, then he wasn’t there when the injury occurred. He had run off in a tantrum while his brothers were on the field shaken to the core that Shaz couldn’t move his lower body. His presence and being there with them at that moment would have been important to help steady the ship and rally the troops. Just a show of comradeie or simply being on the sideline with them in that moment to share the pain and grief would have been huge. But he wasn’t. where was he? Driving home angry in a rental while the team was heartbroken and scrambling to get back in game mode.
That whole shirt off Shazier tribute before the Ravens game looks so shallow to me now because it seems he only did it because he was satisfied to be active that game. A game where he looked terribly slow might I add.
Furthermore, with the death of Dan Rooney and the injury to Shaz, he should have been in a win it for Dan and Shaz mode. Instead he continued to show his behind and disrespect our entire fanbase and organization through his actions by putting our Super Bowl aspirations in jeopardy. Luckily the team is strong enough to handle his cancerous butt. He didn’t want to help the team win a Lombardi if it wasn’t him getting the limelight.
To top it all off. He not only goes to the hated NE Patriots but posts a pic on Instagram with Brady that you could clearly see was meant as a big F U to his teammates, coaches and FO.
As a Steeler fan first and foremost, this is ENTIRELY unacceptable from anyone including someone who should be a Steelers legend.
Sorry. Rant over. That felt good - Who’s ready for the Brown’s! LolComment

Learning that NE was the only team that offered him a contract really just confirms everything most people suspect about BB, the pats shady practices, and what lengths they will go to get an edge... signing guys like Kenny Britt, LeGarrette Blount and most recently JH. It's okay to let some of these malcontents/headaches go by the wayside and not be there to offer refuge as the pats have been known to do.
I know I might sound contradicting - however, that kind of thing can be borderline bad sportsmanship... If they wouldn't have cheated their way to championships they would be no better than the bengals... You hardly ever see other teams running out to accommodate other teams problem-children!
I know, I may be reaching here. I'm still venting too.Comment

I know all Steelerfans don’t feel as I do. But at l ast they have grounds on which to base their opinions. I don’t know how any other fans can tell us how to feel.Comment

Plus, I do agree with you. I believe there could have been some kind of subterfuge with Bellicheat. I thought about that when his slimy agent said something about having a surprise around the corner or something like that. Did you see that? Right before he signed with Bellicheat?
Anyway, I’m still hoping that all of this is some kind of a long con. Like we wait d to see what players NE me gut be thin at and then used James to act as a malcontent through the media. Then released him knowing that he would clear waivers and Bellicheat would pick him up because of his track record for picking up malcontents. So Now that we have an inside operative, we don’t need home field. Cuz We know where the spy/cheat equipment will be....I know. I know. I can dream can’t I?Comment

There is no way of knowing how the season would play out in August. By camp, James had been paid a huge chunk of this season's money.
We like to think that we knew TJ would always be a monster but that is just not the case. What if he had even an average rookie year, or worse, looked lost out there? Then, what if Bud has a season ending injury in week 3? Releasing James in camp or early in the season becomes an epic blunder that 1) Destroys the season; and 2) Gets the vultures circling on websites like this to fire Tomlin.
James is a ROLB. To be blunt, Watt is the better player, even as a rookie. James could play LOLB but it is not his best (and natural) position. Nor is he necessariy any better than Bud, who has the advantages of being younger and someone we want to develop.
Of all his talk about "participation trophies," the irony is that taking snaps away from younger and more versatile (and better) OLBs to make him happy would be the ultimate "participation trophy."
Again, even JH never expected to start. His words he was told 20 percent.
He should have been sub number one at ROLB and Chickillo at left.
As I said before JH has spent most of THE LAST THREE SEASONS as a backup without issue.
He was denied even THE OPPORTUNITY to COMPETE for snaps with backups. That was the problem.sigpic
In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

PS, Any one of the accusations made against James was a releasable offense. I really do not care if he went to see Shaz on his own (although if the team, defense, or position group goes as a group, you go if possible) if he slept during meetings or was otherwise being a jerk. Nor does his story seem very coherent. He was angry that he was not released earlier in the season (even though he got paid) and now seems equally angry that he has been released. Shut up. Go to NE. Be happy. You got your wish.
His post acknowledged he wanted out (which is EXACTLY what Pouncey said he should do) and explained why he requested the release. This is exactly what his former teammates requested.
He also set the record straight on 2 false assertions attributed to Dupree.
He said he will say no more about it in that post, which he did.
In the Pats interview he shut down all questions about the Steelers, actually requesting they ask about the Jets.sigpic

Nowhere does he appear angry about being released. He said NOTHING about it until Pouncey and Dupree ripped him as demanded he admit he wanted out.

First, welcome to the planet brother.
I will let you know, I disagree with much of what you posted. I ask that you consider it with an open mind.

How was he unaware of his role?
Cant do that if you are the last guy on the bench.....INACTIVE at times as well.
As you mention JH said he was cool with that role, there is nothing to say differently IF he got to contribute.
How can you sit your best run defender an ENTIRE GAME as our run defense gets destroyed against the Bears and Jags?
In regard to Shazier- I have a problem with his I went to see him separately. The relationship between him and the other backers must have been fractured and he couldn’t put his petty differences aside to show solidarity as a unit?
And say he never mentored?
Who exactly is the liar here?
Furthermore, with the death of Dan Rooney and the injury to Shaz, he should have been in a win it for Dan and Shaz mode. Dupree didn't “let” the world think anything...he answered a question on a radio show and the world ran with it...
Again, it wasn’t just Dupree who said that Harrison didn’t help them...it was also Chickillo...
Again, a leader is a leader all the time...not just when he gets his snaps...
We talk about getting destroyed by the Bears and Jags, but here we sit at 12-3...would Harrison have had the game that Watt had in his debut against Cleveland? We needed every bit of that to win...the other guys played well...Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.Comment

JH also said “ask TJ” confident that HE would tell a different account.
And again Slappy, nobody (EVEN HARRISON) sugessted he start over Watt.
But really Slappy. If he can’t get snaps when we clearly NEED what he brings, he is right. He simply was not in their plans no matter what.
He he said he wanted “to compete”.
“Originally posted by James HarrisonMaybe I didn’t handle my frustration the best that I could’ve. If you haven’t learned anything about me over the last 16 years, I’m a competitor to my core. I live and breathe competition. I do what it takes to keep my body and my mind ready to be on that field
He actually acknowledged he didn’t always handle it well. But he wanted to compete.
Did he handle everything perfectly? No.
But on some level I get it.
Dude wanted to compete.....the team decided he was not what they wanted, nothing he could do to get regular pt over Chickillo or Moats.Last edited by Captain Lemming; 12-31-2017, 01:27 AM.sigpic

It is really strange that you are tearing down Dupree and going out of your way to defend Harrison. I liked Harrison, too. But, he was really, really wrong here.Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.Comment
