Heck, Deebo was the one that did the tribute to Shazier by doing his warmups in the cold without a shirt.

Forgot about that. Great point. Sounds like Dupree has an ax to grind.

It hasn’t been blundered it just didn’t work out in JH’s favor as far as playing time goes. This happens a lot with aging players.

I think the move has to fail in order for it to be blundered.
That's certainly true. In any case though, this all seems like it could have been avoidable with better communication.
I wasn't hired for my disposition.

No. He got roster bonuses and other money. No way knowing how it would play out so you protect and look at for the team not Harrison

Exactly..that's part of the reason I was pissed off initially...when Bud supposedly said that JH wouldn't visit Shazier... like he didn't give a damn

Not 100% sure im following you on the money end of things. I do know that, according to JH, if he wasn't getting reps in camp despite his request... the team likely knew how it was going to play out early on.

If he refused to go with teammates... there could be a few reasons for that I guess. The most likely is.. there were some hard feelings between him and the guys. By that point in time, it's very possible. Im just glad to know that JH went to see Shazier. That's a heck of a lot more important than who he did or didn't go with.

I agree. Basic human decency is more important than being a good teammate. No sarcasm.
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

I agree. In hindsight... I wish he would have just laid low and moved on at the end of the year. He is where he is today because of his high motor... he just let it get the best of him down the stretch. We've all been there and done that at some point (at work, etc). There are things you'd like to say and do... but sometimes you just need to let it ride.

Zeise clarifies his statement. Dupree didn’t say that Harrison NEVER visited Shazier in the hospital, only that he refused to go with the other linebackers. Still messed up...
There was clarification of what Zeise reported yesterday morning by the guys on 93.7 The Fan. Heard it on way to work.

Are we sure he wasn't on the outs with the fellas?
Dupree in particular seemed to express a long beef with Harrison.

If there were already hard feelings, should we be surprised that Harrison visited Shazier separately?

Think about it Slappy, Dupree says JH didn't mentor. Not only is there video of him doing just that, JH said "ask TJ" which implies that TJ would not share Dupree take.

Now we find he DID visit Shazier after all.

Seems to me that Dupree in his own words took JHs video rants about lack of pt as a personal affront to him and the others who were playing.

Seems there may have been bad blood already, before Shazier injury, if so it is actually reasonable that he go on his own.

The important thing is that he went, not with whom he went.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

                        TCFCLTC-
The Coach Formerly Considered Less Than Cowher

I’m sure he visited Shazier. The problem that Bud is expressing is that Harrison alienated his teammates. Even if Harrison was “on the outs”, the others apparently willing to put aside those differences for Shazier’s sake. Nobody said Harrison NEVER visited Shazier.

I do agree that Dupree seems to be a guy that had long simmering issues with Harrison, possibly from day one...

There is no way of knowing how the season would play out in August. By camp, James had been paid a huge chunk of this season's money.

We like to think that we knew TJ would always be a monster but that is just not the case. What if he had even an average rookie year, or worse, looked lost out there? Then, what if Bud has a season ending injury in week 3? Releasing James in camp or early in the season becomes an epic blunder that 1) Destroys the season; and 2) Gets the vultures circling on websites like this to fire Tomlin.

James is a ROLB. To be blunt, Watt is the better player, even as a rookie. James could play LOLB but it is not his best (and natural) position. Nor is he necessariy any better than Bud, who has the advantages of being younger and someone we want to develop.

Of all his talk about "participation trophies," the irony is that taking snaps away from younger and more versatile (and better) OLBs to make him happy would be the ultimate "participation trophy."

PS, Any one of the accusations made against James was a releasable offense. I really do not care if he went to see Shaz on his own (although if the team, defense, or position group goes as a group, you go if possible) if he slept during meetings or was otherwise being a jerk. Nor does his story seem very coherent. He was angry that he was not released earlier in the season (even though he got paid) and now seems equally angry that he has been released. Shut up. Go to NE. Be happy. You got your wish.
