We don't have any cheerleaders but we do have a few of these \m/... -
And yet the Pats "threw money at some free agent corner' even though they ALREADY HAVE a top corner. We "threw money" at a receiver instead.I can't agree. You use the draft for long term building blocks, not short term fixes. If the Steelers felt that DB was as big a priority, they would have thrown money at some free agent...they didn't, so I think they saw the improvement in the defensive backfield over the course of the season and felt good with their additions last season...
One would think our receivers tore up their secondary but it was THEIR AVERAGE receiver who EMBARRASSED US.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

Yes, if Golson or one of the rookies surprises THAT is the only way I will like the Juju pick.sigpic

It was one bad game. You've become a prisoner of that moment...And yet the Pats "threw money at some free agent corner' even though they ALREADY HAVE a top corner. We "threw money" at a receiver instead.

Slappy, who is winning Super Bowls?Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.Comment

It's sad... I get it, losing to the Pats is frustrating but how can you use one game to make all your draft moves going forward?
a few years ago everyone was trying to get us to copy the duel TE threat due to the Pats.Steelers 27

i dont think it was just 1 bad game. our secondary is mediocre at best. it routinely gets torched by good qbs and lots of bad ones too. almost every fan here wanted to draft secondary early and often. once the pick was in, certain fans proclaim the greatness of the pick and downplay not taking the secondary. i dont recall 1 single fan(including the fanboys) that wanted/predicted a wr in round 2. JUJU may turn out to be a nice wr, and i actually think he will be a solid player for years, but the obvious need was db.steelers = 3 ring circus with tomlin being the head clownComment

It's not downplaying IMO. It's looking at the draft in real time and how it played out. Should we have moved up? Could we have "easily" moved up? Not sure about that.i dont think it was just 1 bad game. our secondary is mediocre at best. it routinely gets torched by good qbs and lots of bad ones too. almost every fan here wanted to draft secondary early and often. once the pick was in, certain fans proclaim the greatness of the pick and downplay not taking the secondary. i dont recall 1 single fan(including the fanboys) that wanted/predicted a wr in round 2. I would be more upset if Obi, Uzi, etc were still available and we picked JuJu over them but that wasn't the case AND we picked up Sutton in the next round. Sutton also played a ton of man coverage in college. Need I remind people we were drafting at 30.
..and I guess the Steelers still draft BPA more than need.
from Dulac:
Waiting three rounds to find a defensive back in the draft was longer than anyone anticipated, even for the Steelers. But it wasn’t without trying.
They had two potential targets in their crosshairs in the first round — Michigan safety Jabrill Peppers and cornerback Tre’Davious White of LSU. They had their eye on two more in the second — cornerback Kevin King of Washington and safety Obi Melifonwu of Connecticut. All those players were gone when it was their turn to pick.
So they ended up with cornerback Cameron Sutton of Tennessee in the third round, and it wouldn’t be a stretch to say he is something of a hybrid of all four.

If the Steelers don't believe they need serious help in the secondary then whoever is making that observation needs fired.I can't agree. I think much like Sean Davis a second round DB could help us late in the season against Brady. Isn't that what this is about? Winning now while we have Ben? By the time JuJu comes into his own (and I believe he will) who will be throwing him the ball?Trolls are people too.Comment
