Unless he can cover people in the secondary.....no I wont be eating crow.
If one of our later round secondary guys winds up better than Obi or the corner from Colorado who we could have EASILY moved up to get, THEN I would be fine with the Juju pick and happily eat crow.

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

If "close to the same snaps as Rogers" is your "optimistic" view, you are seriously missing why people don't like the pick my friend. If you like the pick at least be confident the dude is better than Rogers.

I think he will have a better career but that doesn't mean he will be better at the start of his rookie season. The draft isn't a sprint. Rogers has a better grasp of the playbook and a year under his belt. I expect him to put up a fight. It's weird how you think it has to be all or none. You have to remember how our FO operates. Burns and Davis weee better players than the guys in front of them bu they weren't crowned starters from day 1.

Your agenda is clouding your thoughts, you have been slipping lately CP.

exactly. Even if he turns out to be the next Hines Ward this pick doesn't solidify our Swiss cheese secondary. Unless JuJu can play DB he isn't going to get us past the Pats. I think that's the only issue myself and others had with the pick. It's funny how guys like Dizz love to set up straw men to blow down.

don't back peddle now. Juju is the savior of our 17-18 season. He was such a strong pick you don't know if he can wrestle the #3 WR away from a guy who went undrafted. I'll stand by it. JuJu is a good physical WR but we needed secondary not a guy who might not be better than our top 4 maybe 5 wide receivers.

Im leaning this way still.. im ok with the pick though if our #3 and #5 Rd corners exceed expectations.

I can agree with that much. Let's say Golson finally sees the field and explodes as well as our new rookie seeing time early...then maybe a luxury WR pick in the second can be forgiven.

agreed... hoping for the same out of Golson.

If Smith-Schuster is a better player in the long run than any DB available, then he was a good pick...

I can agree with that on some level. Any other year I may fully be on board. But I think we have Ben for 2-3 more seasons and getting that D in shape for a SB run has to be the priority. So if you plan on taking a WR he better be MUCH better than any of the DBs who are drafted after him.

Considering the fact that they selected a WR over ANY OTHER position speaks strongly about how they feel regarding Smith-Schuster.

And given the recent success level of the scouting team, I'm more than willing to take there word for it.

I can't agree. You use the draft for long term building blocks, not short term fixes. If the Steelers felt that DB was as big a priority, they would have thrown money at some free agent...they didn't, so I think they saw the improvement in the defensive backfield over the course of the season and felt good with their additions last season...

Savior of our season? damn, don't hurt yourself moving the goal post.

Do you guys really think a DB in the 2nd round would see more snaps early in the season? I doubt it.
