The Steelers should still be building their team around Ben Roethlisberger

For comparison's sake, upon adding 4 more years to Antonio Brown's contract with $68 million in new money, only $19 million of that was guaranteed. That's 27.9% of the contract value fully guaranteed.

Good points. I wonder if we even made him an offer though. It was no secret that Timmons was a "Lifer". I am wondering what he could have been retained for...

We can debate the guaranteed money piece. I thought he played some of the best football of his career down the stretch this season. Maybe b/c he was playing for a contract. Regardless... LT can still play at a high level. I've got a feeling Miami will be happy with him.

I'm trying to think of a time when there were more than 5 really good QB's in the league at the same time. The 90's had some great QB' but I think a lot of that is nostalgia and being able to look back at careers after they are over.

          Right now you have
          Brady
          Rodgers
          Ben
          Russell Wilson
          Cam Newton
          Eli Manning
          Phillip Rivers
          Drew Brees
          Matt Ryan

Now I know some will scoff at a few names but I think you can do the same during any era when you look at their stats from season to season. The drop off isn't due to benching a QB his first year or 2. I don't think there is a drop off in QB's we are just prisoners of the moment.

It's something you heard but it doesn't mean QB's fair any better by sitting vs playing right away.

Ben didn't sit and look at his career. It's a crap shoot regardless and there are so many variables involved there is no way of knowing if sitting a QB makes them any better.

True, but at a higher cost. VW is almost the same at this point.

i actually cant remember having this many quality qbs in the nfl at one time.
i base this on how many qbs would i be satisfied with as my starter............i might even go winston, mariotta and wentz with another year of production

                    shoot, prescott too

I hope you are right about that. LT was on the field a hell of a lot this year though... If he and VW were close to equals...one would've thought VW would have been on the field more.

I thought about Dak but I need to see another year before I crown him. He looks legit and how long did he wait? I haven't seen much of Winston and Mariotta but both those teams have turned the corner due to their QB's.

I agree, I don't really know what Eddie means by a drop off. If anything we are seeing a bunch of good QB's and maybe a handful of teams who have bums.

ugh, and Kirk Cousins... I don't like him but he had a decent year.

LT was our general but he was too expensive given his age. LT is like Farrior. You hate to see those guys leave but you have to let them get that last big check on someone else's dime.

Well, they did try to sign Hightower. So, they may be thinking its a pretty big drop off.
