One game isn't the last game. Our D last year, and earlier this year isn't the D we will have next year. Yes, we can hang with the Pats.

We need more then the amount of picks that we have; so factoring in that we don't really use free agency, I'm thinking we trade out of the first round and pick up an additional draft pick in the second and/or third round.

Why do the Steelers need more than the amount of picks that they have? They traded their 6th for Gilbert, but still have at least 6 picks this year. This team just went to the AFCCG. They need a few quality players, but don't need a large quantity of players.

We have red alert issues in these areas:

          1. CB
          2. LB
          3. WR
          4. FS
          5. QB

to adequately address these positions thru the draft, we need at least two more picks don't you think? And we are going to probably have to double up at LB; and maybe FS too. I love Harrison but he's close to 100 years old and we are not bringing back JJ. Right there is two reasons to draft two linebackers.

I'm factoring in that we will not be using free agency.

Sorry, I have to use my eyes and past trends instead of fairy tale wishes. We always kick FG's when we should score TD's and we never beat the pPats unless we bump on the LOS.

On papa we we can hang but once te game starts they make adjustments and we don't. We have to win once in a shootout with trhem for me to think it's possible in the future.

I think there is no way the Steelers double up at FS. They like Mitchell. I see that safety as a position where you need a better #3, but not a starter. I see OLB and slot corner as 2 absolutely needs. At WR, I don't know what the team thinks about Bryant.

I don't really care if the Steelers sign a backup QB or draft a mid-round guy. It's unlikely that you develop an eventual replacement for Ben.

I'd rather see a few very strong players added than a bunch of bodies.

Red Alert is hyperbole. We were in the AFC Championship game. We are far from broken at any position

I agree, if anything I could see the Steelers being one pass rusher away from a SB. They may trade up. I'll tell you something, if Malik Hooker falls to the 20's (which wont happen) the Steelers will try to trade up. He is the next Ed Reed.

lol.. fairy tale wishes. Well this message board is truly blessed to have a logical mind such as yourself. We have actually beaten the Pats twice. Shoot, Landry Jones kept us within 11 of the vaunted and unbeatable Patriots. So, do I believe by adding Heyward and Bryant we can hang with the Pats? I know so. The Steelers have to play a clean game.

                      1. Mitchell at safety is great to provide a lick but he's below average in coverage; Gronk will be back next season.
                      2. We have one reliable WR in Brown and a bunch of question marks every place else. Which was evident in all the dropped passes in the AFC Championship game.
                      3. Jarvis Jones isn't coming back and we have Harrison who is 150 years old. Shazier is fragile leaving Dupree as the only guy we feel comfortable with starting next season. When your Harrison's age, one day you just wake up old and can't do it anymore. Despite what "vitamins" your taking.

                      4. Really don't need to talk about QB do I? Landry Jones won't be back and Mettenberger is an unknown.

In football, if your not improving, your declining so standing pat isn't an option.

Twice in how many years? 11 points isn't close. Patriots are beatable but not by us with this defensive scheme. We've only beat the Pats once under Tomlin with Brady on the field and that's because we forced 3 and outs by playing a different defense.

Did you really point out typos on a message board?

On that we can agree...with this defensive SCHEME. It's not the personnel. We have talent on both sides of the ball. But going back the original point of dispute, we don't have to draft D in the first to beat the Pats. We need better scheme. An innovative game plan. We have the talent.

And yes I do on very rare occasion but only when it's ironical.
