Shawn I agree with you. Let L. Jones take a walk he is at his ceiling in this offense. Maybe in a different scheme he can be a better back up. Go forth and prosper. Roll with Burger #2 as the back up. Gamble on a mid-late Rd QB. That does not keep them from drafting or trading for other QB when Ben hangs it up. Just because others have found a gem after the 1rd does not mean it will continue to happen. And QB's even in the 1st are a huge gamble. The future at QB will be what it is. Continue to build a winning TEAM.
I also like your mock Shawn.

Thanks, and I must agree its time for Jones to walk. I think Mettenberger has the physical tools to be a terrific #2

This despite the fact that there has been virtually nothing positive from anybody who covers the Steelers’ practices about Mettenberger’s development. Beat writers used to joke that Jones made the Steelers’ struggling cornerbacks look good. I don’t want to know what would be written about Mettenberger if he were to become relevant.
        sure about Mettenberger?

I am not sure what you guys see in L. Jones? He can not use the weapons they have from what I seen. And practice is different then a game. Why not just sling the rock in practice as the #2? He is no #1 we agree on that. Let's see him in the pre season with a camp under his belt. We all seen Jones and I don't really want him hanging around incase Ben gets hurt and misses a few games at some point. I have no confidence in him at this point. Time to move on get another rookie in here to do his best or worst.

Exactly. I haven't seen or heard anything that would lead me to believe he is going to be a good #2. Pretty sure if Mettenverger was as good as some believe we would hear about it by now.

So some do see L.Jones as a good #2. Time to draft looking for a good starting QB. Don't think we will see a franchise QB for a while. And always will be dreaming of it.

Sure? No one and certainly not a 6th round draft pick is a sure thing. What I will say is this...Zack didn't even have a camp with the Steelers. He was signed August 31st. I will say he had a pretty good game against the Steelers back in Nov 2014. I liked him in college and he played well against us. Considering he hasn't had a camp with us and hasn't gotten any meaningful snaps, I would love to give him more time before throwing him to the wolves.

He is a decent #2. He isn't a guy you want to start.

I think that would be a waste of a pick. That late, the QB likely isn't a franchise guy and our window is now. I'd rather get someone who can contribute in the short term while we still have a chance to win the SB. Then, when Ben retires, we embrace the tank so that we can pick high and bring in a replacement at QB.

I will respectfully disagree. I agree the window is now but I believe we have all the pieces needed to make a SB run. We have Bryant back next year. I believe that addition alone would have changed the course of the Pats game. Think about if Bryant ran that long ball instead of Coates, and Ben would have snuck on the half yard line. Its a different ball game then. We can run with the Pats...especially with Bryant. If Green is part of that equation...I know we can beat the Pats with the pieces we have.

If the Steelers see a guy at the end of round one as a franchise kind of guy they must pull the trigger.

I get the what ifs on the offensive side of the ball, but don't see how that impacts what was a pathetic defensive game plan. I mean, Brady never even broke a sweat in the game. What would have happened had he really poured it on?

Green is done. He played in 3 or 4 games. Let that dream go.

The problem is all the ifs on the offensive side don't change the pathetic defense vs the Pats. There is no way our O plays perfect football vs the Pats.

True, but this D is young and only going to get better. Would have a healthy Heyward helped the Steelers get more pressure? I'm not sure I can buy into the premise of passing on a possible franchise QB because a rookie might help us beat the Pats. I think we have talent on D. I think we need a new fresh mind calling plays on D. That I could buy into.

I don't think we would have to play perfect O to beat the Pats but we can't turn the ball over. I do think we could survive a shootout with Bryant on our squad. We were in that game. The Coates drop, the Rodgers fumble, and the 1/2 yard line stop were the three keys to the game. I understand the would have and should haves dont help us much now. But, I do believe it helps us keep a realistic look on this Pats situation. IMO, the Steelers are more talented than the Pats especially when healthy. I do think we could slow them down and survive a shoot out. Call me crazy but we have the talent to beat them. Do we have a good enough OC and DC? Thats where my lack of confidence lies. Shoot, I think I could have pulled out my Madden playbook and coached a better game than Haley.

Pats hung 55 on us one game. I don't think we can survive a shootout with the Pats. Our D has to make some stops and unless we change our scheme for the Pats we aren't going to do that anytime soon.
