Mosley is a solid NFL player... no question about it. But Mosley plays the Timmons role in that defense...Zach Orr plays the Shazier role.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

      what is the shazier role?

he's a solid player when he plays. But this notion that he locks up TEs in the mid range passing game is simply untrue.

Yeah, he has room to improve in coverage, IMO.

i watched 90% of that game and didn't recall an int by Mosley. Tried checking the box score but didn't find Mosley stats.
I did see carr had 4 tds and 0 ints. Was it a trick
play with someone else throwing the ball???

in fact the only plays I noticed with Mosley was a short dump off to the sideline where he stopped the receiver
from getting a 1st down. But he had another defender there and the receiver needed like 5 yards. In other words, he made a normal play, Would have an extraordinary play by the receiver to gain a 1st down.

The other play i already mentioned when the announcing crew said crew said he didn't drop back far enough into his zone letting up the raiders 3rd TD

how was Jordan reed doing before they put shazier on him?
how did reed play in his next game?

shazier didn't look good at all in philly, but you can say that about anyone on the Steelers.
He had decent coverage on sproles at first on the sproles long TD. But mistakenly decided to go after the scrambling wentz which left him wide open. His mistake was in judgement. Not because he couldn't cover sproles

According to NFL.com, Mosley had 9 total tackles, 0 Sacks, 0 Passes Defended, and 0 INTs in the Raiders game...

one handed int came against the jags

he's a much better player than posters on this board give him credit for

calling him "solid" is underselling him while the same people oversell shazier

Except, I'm pretty sure Vince was signed to replace Timmons.. though, that's all fluid if Shazier can't stay on the field..

I realize he's a good player. But as I stated, I rather go for the package shazier brings drafting that early.
If you want to rehash that draft, and say we should have drafted so and so, then look for an edge rusher olb.
Or Jason vererett or a Kelvin Benjamin who could have have helped us even more then what mosley brings.

Maybe Some would have preferred we didn't trade up for troy and took mike doss at 27 and just player a standard safety position and not taken a gamble in toys injuries in college

I agree with this and also think it's likely the steelers never put themselves in a position where they have to make a choice between two impact players. I think Tuitt is an impact player as well. So all this is just an exercise in fandom as I doubt we'll ever see the reality where the steelers have to decide between these two.

Yeah, it feels like an exercise in fandom. But you gotta know that Shazier is not going to be had for no "$2-4 mill". He's going to command a hefty salary. I don't know, I guess I just remember Lamarr Woodley's complacent a$s too well... (Woodley was productive and durable.) Luke Keuchly is the benchmark, and I think he got somewhere around $12m/yr. I gotta think Shazier is going to demand $10m.

Mosley was playing pro bowl caliber ball his rookie season. People will believe what they want to believe. Shazier is a shiny Ferrari thats always in the shop.
