Don't resign Shazier save for Tuitt

Not sure when the contracts of Shazier and Tuitt are up.(next year?). But I'd rather have an affordable guy like Vince Williams who is rock steady than a flashy guy like Shazier who obviously has a toughness issue. Save the $ for Tuitt who is gonna command big ass $ in free agency.

Depends on Shazier's asking price. On the open market whats an oft injured ILB who hasn't produced anything in the way of stats worth? Its all potential, athletic gifts and a wish, hope and a prayer he can play a full season eventually. To me that doesn't scream big money. In that case, sign him and Tuitt.

Vince Williams had a good game Sunday but people need to pump their brakes. Williams is going into his 4th season, he has 1.5 career sacks, zero forced a fumbles, zero Int's, and has been basically a special teamer. I think the Steelers will be able to keep both Shazier and Tuitt, and even if they can't I doubt Vince Williams is even part of the equation. If the Steelers had to get rid of Tuitt or Shazier they would be drafting to fill those positions.

Williams isn't on the same planet as Shazier. But, hes tough and he plays. If we could build of hybrid of him and Shazier then we would have a linebacker.

I agree the two are not on the same planet, Shazier is a game changer. If our defense can continue to rush the passer like they did Sunday they will be on another level once Shazier gets back out there.

Timmons is in the last year of his current contract with the Steelers, his 10th season in the NFL. Next season, Vince Williams would most likely be the starter next to Shazier, not Shazier's replacement.
Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.

Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Wow, seriously? Why not give up on Ben, Pouncy, and Bell while we are at it. They are also flashy and injury prone. That is like saying,"That Filet Mignon takes too long to cook, bring me a bologna sandwich."

Is it too soon, or would you like to add Bud Dupree to this list as well?

This defense needs game changing players not career back ups. I'll take 12 games of Shazier over 16 games of Williams anytime

Keep drafting LBs until you find one that can stay on the field and make plays.

                    sigh.......

this is why there's not a lot of competition to be an NFL GM.

Look, I understand the concern over Shaziers injuries. But when the guy is healthy he is a game changer. Just like last year when he stripped the ball in the bungles playoff game with 1:50 left and GAME CHANGED the outcome.

If he can't stay healthy, so be it. But to dump him because of previous injuries seems very short sighted to me.

My money would be on another LB in the first round in the 2017 draft.

we could have had a guy who plays just like that a couple of years ago

                          Pass rusher, not ILB, though.

I don't think anyone is saying dump the guy. Nor do I think anyone thinks Vincenzo is the player Shazier is when he's healthy. I think though, if we could look at the books and it was decided that we could only keep Tuitt or Shazier, right now: I'd take Tuitt.

As for Shazier/Vincenzo, the question is dollar amount. For the amount that Shazier is likely to command (near Kuechly money, even if he is no Kuechly), compared to what Vincenzo commands (i.e. your average UPS delivery man salary), it's also a fair comparison.
I wasn't hired for my disposition.

                              Difference between the two?
                              ONE is a game changer.

Without Shazier we would STILL be looking for our first playoff win since our last super bowl season.
