Maybe part of the reason the defenses are better under Arians is because he scores more often early in games which puts more pressure on the other team? Is it really a coincedence that he benefits from a good defense everywhere he goes? Really?Stat ended because "I" have a job Dizz.
Here is a stat:
Dizz, how many times has Ben been to a playoff with less than a top defense? TWICE.
Who was the ONLY OC to do that. Haley.
If your defense gives up 14 points (2008 SB team average), your offense only needs to score 15 to win. We scored 21 a game, sufficient ONLY if the defense is dominant.
If your defense gives up 23 points (2014 average), your offense needs AT LEAST TWO MORE SCORES to win on average. 2014 we scored 27 a game, enough to overcome a struggling defense.
Now I know Crash "dazzles you" with his "But on a full moon, on artificial surfaces, in the second week of October, on a leap year, when playing teams with bird mascots, on the west coast, Arians is better" gibberish.
Not rocket science Dizz
How bout this, we score way more with Haley period.
Say what you want about "wins". They are a function of BOTH sides of the ball.
Arian HAS won more. But:
With the Steelers and Cardinals Arians has NEVER won with a "weak" defense. NEVER.
Almost his entire career he has had the help of a top defense while his offensive points are average.
EVEN ON AZ last season was his FIRST elite offense.
Haley has gotten to the playoffs AND a Superbowl with weak defenses.
"Schooled" by Crash Dizz? Me?
I Don't Think So

Arians is 43-17 as a HC. Maybe you guys were wrong about him, most of you predicted failure once he left Pittsburgh and he has been very successful.
Look at what we gave Arians to work with on the OL vs what we gave Haley? Arians made it work with a garbage OL and its not his fault we had a good defenses. What exactly did you expect with a #1 defense? A #1 offense? Smh.. we won with arians, plaina0 and simple.Steelers 27

You are shortchanging the performance of Mr. Arians and Mr. Roethlisberger in 2007 and 2009.EVEN ON AZ last season was his FIRST elite offense.
That's OK, I did too.
I'm sorry.Comment

My biggest pet peave with Haley is his head scratching play calls at critical times. Always seems like Bryant wasnt on the field for those plays. But the Broncos were not healthy in the secondary during the first contest. You can't use injuries on your team in the second game while ignoring injuries of the opponent in the first game.
Mr. Bryant was healthy during the second game, and my hand picked genius removed him from the contest on a key 4th down play for a player who had one catch and three yards during the previous month.
Injuries had nothing to do with that decision.
The lack of brains did.
I'm sorry.Steelers 27

Plueese Mr. "Context".
You know I was talking about the playoff success you always point to.
You wanna talk "regular season", yes both had similar defensive scores.
Difference is simple.
Haleys team scored more offensive points. It aint close.sigpic

Mr. Haley's team has also scored more IRRELEVANT points. It ain't close.
Because we lose more now, back when I didn't appreciate Ben he would score early, we'd run late to preserve Mr. LeBeau's eventual course onto Sainthood and for some reason I'd get mad about "offensive rankings".
I'm sorry.Comment

Mr. Lemming claims he doesn't "hate Ben" and yet claims the 2007, nor the 2009 Steelers offense were "elite".Comment

Depends on how you define "elite". Scored 436 and 423 last two seasons.
Scored 393 during Arians best season here. Noll scored more than that in 79 when teams scored way less than today.
Elite in the 70s aint elite today.

Elite is Mr. Roethlisberger's 2007 performance, and the fact we also had the NFL's leading rusher before he broke his leg in game 15 during the same season.
If you don't consider that elite? You hate Mr. Roethlisberger. Period.Comment

Funny stuff Crash.
(Dizz this one is for you, since you claim Crash "owns" this debate, I will demonstrate what it means to own a debate)
Hey Crash. Do you think the offense is "elite" now?
See how that works. Admit this record setting offense IS elite.....OR by YOUR OWN STANDARD, you hate Ben.
I await your response.

No I don't because I don't value garbage time numbers in lopsided losses. Ben has thrown for MORE irrelevant yards and TD's in four years with Haley, than he did in EIGHT YEARS without him.Funny stuff Crash.

Todd Haley's offense, much like Philip Rivers career, is a fantasy football owners dream.
But in the REAL NFL world? It's a disaster.
The facts speak for themselves.Comment

If I "hated" Ben then, you hate Ben "now" my friend.
But I await the responses from the judges.
I'm done "toying" with you tonight.

I have 11 second half touchdown passes in four years for Ben with Mr. Haley that he threw in lopsided losses.
I would bet that number is close, in the eight years, without him.
That doesn't speak well for Mr. Haley at all.
You have to remember, Ben only lost 39 games TOTAL, in 8 years prior to Mr. Haley. They all weren't blowouts. How many garbage time TD's has he had the chance to even THROW during his first 8 years?
The answer is??????? Seven.
Three in three years with Wiz, and FOUR in five years with Arians. And three of them, were in one game against the Pats* in 2010.
Now what?Last edited by Art Rooney II; 06-28-2016, 10:35 PM.Comment
