Arians 'retirement"

The only thing I'm refuting is "without Harrison we don't win" because we have no idea how it plays out. I'm thankful he made that play because I never thought he would make it past the 20.But, you didn't refute anything I said. "Ben and Santonio were beyond heroic" on that last drive. You can try to make the case that anything could have happened in the 2nd half...but, if anything could happen, how can we assume that the offense comes up big?
If we look at what actually happened, we see that the defense (specifically Harrison) came up big at the end of the first half and the offense (specifically Ben and Santonio) came up big at the end of the second half...it's a balancing act, as you said...Arians was the OC of Steelers teams with dominant defenses...so far, Haley has not been...hopefully, that changes this year...
The issue I have is this same DOMINANT defense gave up a big lead in the second half.
After the Fitz TD my wife turned to me and said "now I finally realize why you scream so much even when they are up by 2 TD's"Steelers 27

Gary Russell's TD put them up 10-0. Without that TD they don't win either. What if he fumbled?
But that's why there was the "civil war" in Steeler Nation. LeBeau's reputation meant more to them than just winning championships.Comment

What if Toussaint didn't fumble...see what I did there? We can play the "what if" game all day and it proves nothing...He's pumping up LeBeau. That's all they know how to do.

But you can't refute it...he did score and that TD was the difference in the game...just as, sadly, the pick 6 vs. the Packers scored the deciding points in SB XLV...The only thing I'm refuting is "without Harrison we don't win" because we have no idea how it plays out. if he doesnt fumble we might score a TD, a FG or Ben gets strip sacked by that freakish Denver defense.
we have no idea but it must be nice to assume the best or the worst based on one play.Steelers 27

Isn't that exactly what you're doing? You say the decisive points were scored at the end of the second half in that game...I say they were at the end of the first half...you can assume that the second half plays out differently...okay, it does and the Steelers never surrender the lead...the last minute heroics aren't necessary...what decided the game?Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.Comment

So why isn't Gary Russell's TD the difference in the game? If anything, if Russell doesn't score, they kick a FG to go up 6-0 and the defense gives up that same TD on their next drive, the Steelers are then losing 7-6 despite the offense scoring on their first two drives of the game.
But Harrison plays on LeBeau's side of the ball, and that's all people like you care about.Comment

Well, that exodus lasted almost 12 hours. What restraint you have.
By the way, I didn't call you out. I was calling out the posters here who haven't been banned countless times, informing them that were spouting off the same nonsense that inevitably would always lead to an unwelcome return...and whaddaya know...like clockwork...Steeler teams featuring stat-driven, me-first, fantasy-football-darling diva types such as Antonio Brown & Le'Veon Bell won no championships.
Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.
We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.
We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.Comment

He fumbles? And the rest of the game plays out? The Steelers aren't even in position to clean up LeBeau's 4th quarter mess.
Have a nice day.Comment

I love this game!
Let's look at it this way:
Steelers 2007-2011 - Points For 22.8 per game/Points Against 15.9 per game
Steelers 2012-2015 - Points For 24.6 per game/Points Against 21.4 per game
Now, I know that these numbers include defensive and special teams TDs, but that's okay, because it has been established that both OCs benefitted equally:
So, we can see that the offense has improved, though not tremendously. We also see that the decline of the defense far outstripped any offensive improvement. This leads to, as one poster points out, more "meaningless scoring". It also leads to pressing and trying to do more on offense, which leads to diminishing returns.Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.Comment
