Super Bowl winning Steeler teams were built around a dynamic, in-your-face defense plus blue-collar, hard-hitting, no-nonsense football players on offense such as Hines Ward & Jerome Bettis.

We don't want Juju & Conner to replace what we lost in Brown & Bell.

We are counting on Juju & Conner to return us to the glory we once had with Hines & The Bus.

Most of those five games were when Ben wasn't loaded on offense like he is now.

To your point, maybe it makes sense that Roethlisberger comes back this game to 'get the loss out of the way' and be ready for a win against an all-important division rival?

BTW, just watched the Bryant 88 yd run on nfl.com and was surprised by the last 5 sec of the clip.

There was a defender that dove right at L Jones' knee on that play. Was there a penalty thrown?

Yeah...I was at the game and while everyone was celebrating the long Bryant TD, I was focused on the penalty flag in the backfield, assuming it was a holding call that would bring it back.

They did throw a flag and it was one of AZ's many 15 yard penalties...
Actually, my post was NOT about you...but, if the shoe fits, feel free to lace that &!+€# up and wear it.

Yeah, but that one only resulted in Boswell kicking off from midfield following the TD.

Nonetheless, I think it says something about Ben's proclivity toward coming back sooner than he should.

For the record though, Ben is in NO danger of losing his job to Landry anytime soon. This year, next year. Even if Landry throws for 320 yards and 3 TD next week (highly unlikely), the best-case for Landry will be that it will start a sort of groundswell of trade opportunities (a la Matt Flynn). Ben has years left... he's no Joe Montana at the end of his career, as Steve Young was emerging. Nor is he even Peyton Manning, when Luck was on the board.

I sorta wish Landry gets another shot and excels... because it would open up trade opportunities for us. Not to say we don't need a back-up QB, but if we can pull off a strong trade for him, I'd be happy to see it.
I wasn't hired for my disposition.

We know his job is secure but it's still the NFL. If Landry plays next week and tosses 4 TD's sports radio will start talking about it.

This has nothing to do with fear of being replaced... its internal, its that drive to be the best and want to play as many downs as possible and I think the desire increases when QB's like Ben see a back up... a young back up being groomed, go out and toss the rock around just like Ben did when he burst onto the scene.
I think the reality is quite the opposite.
Imagine we get crushed with Landry playing horrid.

Ben would feel MORE pressure to return or lose the season altogether

In view of the fact that Mike Tomlin has matched Cowhers record I give him the designation:

The Coach Formerly Considered Less Than Cowher

I higly doubt that Ben is saying "uh oh, better hurry back or that kid will steal my job". This is not Brett Favre/Aaron Rodgers. Ben is happy that he will return to a team that is in contention.

Ben's current job consists of standing next to the coaches on the sideline, holding a clipboard.

Here's hoping that Landry steals THAT job from Ben soon!
